The Billionaire’s Hidden Bride
Chapter Two — The Woman from His Past
Victoria couldn't move.
“My fiancée?”
The words came out barely above a whisper.
Alexander's expression remained unreadable, but his eyes were fixed on her.
“Yes.”
Victoria let out a nervous laugh.
“You have got to be kidding me.”
“I wish I were.”
Before she could respond, the sound of heels echoed through the marble hallway.
A woman appeared at the entrance.
She was tall, elegant, and dressed in a stunning black evening gown. Her blonde hair fell perfectly over her shoulders, and the confidence in her eyes suggested she was accustomed to getting exactly what she wanted.
Her gaze immediately landed on Victoria.
Then she smiled.
It wasn't a friendly smile.
“Alexander,” she said softly.
He didn't answer.
The woman walked toward them.
“I've been looking everywhere for you.”
Victoria looked between them.
“I'm guessing this is your fiancée.”
The woman finally turned toward her.
“Who are you?”
Victoria opened her mouth, but Alexander answered first.
“Victoria Hayes.”
The woman's smile disappeared.
“Hayes?”
Victoria noticed the sudden change in her expression.
“You know me?”
The woman took a slow step closer.
“No.”
But her voice said otherwise.
Alexander stepped between them.
“Evelyn, this isn't the time.”
Evelyn looked at him coldly.
“You brought her here?”
“Yes.”
“Why?”
Alexander's jaw tightened.
“Because I needed to.”
Evelyn laughed bitterly.
“You've spent years telling me that you don't trust anyone. And now you're bringing some stranger into this house?”
Victoria felt uncomfortable.
She picked up her handbag.
“I think I should leave.”
Alexander turned toward her.
“No.”
“I don't think this concerns me anymore.”
“It concerns you more than you realize.”
Victoria stared at him.
“What exactly am I supposed to do now?”
Alexander looked at the contract on the table.
“Sign it.”
She couldn't believe him.
“With your fiancée standing right there?”
Evelyn's eyes narrowed.
“Sign what?”
Silence filled the room.
Victoria looked at Alexander.
Alexander looked at Evelyn.
And Victoria suddenly understood.
Evelyn wasn't supposed to know.
Alexander's secret marriage proposal wasn't just dangerous.
It could destroy his entire family.
Victoria slowly picked up the pen.
She looked at Alexander one last time.
“Fine.”
Evelyn's face went pale.
Victoria signed her name.
Victoria Hayes.
Alexander took the contract.
Then, without looking away from Evelyn, he said,
“Welcome to the Blackwood family.”
Evelyn stared at Victoria with something dangerously close to hatred.
And Victoria realized she had just entered a world where love, money, and revenge were impossible to separate.
