My Heart Trust You 2

“You look ready for the office” Maggie remarked as Adam came out of his room in a deep navy suit, hair slicked back. “I have an important meeting today… Freesia, come on, I’ll drive you.” “She’s coming with me,” Maggie cut in. “I need to finish Haru’s paperwork and take him shopping.” They spoke while Freesia stood by, dressed and holding Haru’s hand. “But Mom, Freesia has her final exams” Adam reminded her. “My next one is the day after tomorrow, and it’s an easy subject,” Freesia explained. “So I’ll go with my aunt and help out.” “Aunt?” Adam repeated, looking at them. Maggie smiled and approached him, fixing his shirt collar. In a whisper, she said, “Yes, her aunt—for now. I want to see if that’ll turn into ‘Mother in law’ later.” She narrowed her eyes playfully. “Also, why do you always leave your top buttons undone? You’re going to work, not seducing someone… Right, Freesia?” “What?!” Freesia blurted, eyes wide. Adam leaned down to whisper to his mother, “Please stop with this stuff in front of her—she’s shy.” “You know that, huh? So what else do you know about her, hmm?” Maggie teased, eyes glinting. They locked eyes in playful silence while Freesia stared at them both, puzzled. Adam straightened up and headed for the door, trying not to laugh. “I’m off. Be careful, you three” he called, closing the door behind him. He checked his watch. The meeting was in two hours. Time to focus—his heart would have to wait. 🌺 “Come in, Freesia.” “There’s really no need, Aunt.” “What are you saying? I’m tired from shopping—come on, let’s have lunch first, then you can leave.” Freesia eventually gave in to Maggie’s insistence. As she stepped into the house, she took in the sight around her. Whenever something or someone beautiful caught her eye, she’d always stare and smile to herself. This time was no different. It wasn’t a huge villa, but it was lovely. A garden and flowers welcomed her at the entrance, and inside, the living room radiated warmth. She sat with Haru, engaging him in endless, cheerful conversation. She was happy he was laughing—finally about to live like a normal child. She knew there were countless others suffering like Haru had, but at least she had done something for one of them. “Haru, come—I’ll show you your room” Maggie said. Haru looked at Freesia, who smiled and took his hand. “Look, Haru. From now on, you’ll live here with this beautiful lady, her husband, and their son—you know who he is, right? They’re going to love you and take care of you.” “But… will I see you again?” he asked, wide-eyed. Before Freesia could reply, Maggie stepped in, “Of course she will! She can come visit anytime she likes. And didn’t we agree you’d start calling me Mom today?” He looked between them, hesitant but not afraid. And finally, he said what Maggie had been waiting to hear: “Okay… Mom.” Her face lit up as she took him to see his room, Freesia following. “This is your room,” Maggie said, “and the one next door belongs to your big brother, Adam. But let me tell you something—if he asks you to stay up and play those games of his, don’t do it, alright?” Freesia chuckled at Maggie’s constant jabs at her son. Haru nodded and went to explore his toys. “Why don’t you want him to play with Adam?” Freesia asked. Maggie looked back at her. “I don’t want him becoming stubborn like Adam… What scares me most, Freesia, is that if Haru loves him too much, Adam will rub off on him.” Freesia frowned. “But Adam isn’t bad, not really.” “You know what he does?” Maggie asked. Freesia nodded. “Honestly, my friend Lily—Kevin’s wife—warned me about him. She told me everything. But… I don’t know. I see something in his eyes. He’s someone I can rely on.” Maggie smiled. She pointed to the sofa. “Come, let’s sit downstairs. Let Haru have fun.” They sat together, Maggie continuing, “I’m not saying I don't like Adam’s personality. I actually admire it. He built himself up from nothing, without his father’s help.” “But he’s a spoiled brat,” she added, laughing. “I’m sure he’ll get Haru into video games, sports, art… I’m okay with all that. I just don’t want Haru picking up his habit of staying up all night. I know it’s early to worry about such things, but Adam’s influence is strong—too strong.” Freesia nodded knowingly. She was living proof of that influence. “I know Adam doesn’t date girls. He just… plays around. But…” “You’re afraid that…” “No, Freesia. Adam would never take things too far. One time I confronted him about his behavior, and you won’t believe what he told me!” She took a deep breath and continued, “He said, ‘Mom, don’t worry. I won’t sleep with any of them.’” Freesia’s mouth dropped open. “And you know what else?” Maggie laughed. “He actually told me, ‘It’s just a little fun, little touches nothing more. I’ve never even slept with one.’ Can you believe that?” Freesia sat in stunned silence. “That was exactly my reaction!” Maggie said, laughing. “How is this man my son?” She paused, her tone softening. “But I do know one thing for sure—he would never hurt you, Freesia. He wouldn’t. So I hope you stay by his side. I don’t want to force anything, but I really hope you can be the one to change him.” Freesia held her hands and said gently, “I trust him. People might think that’s crazy, but I wouldn’t have stayed under the same roof if I didn’t. I wouldn’t have turned to him if I didn’t trust him. So don’t worry, Aunt… I’m here. I just don’t want to be a burden.” “You’re not” Maggie replied immediately. “Adam’s been distant lately, and I don’t know why. But I’ll always be thankful for everything he’s done. I’ll follow my heart, Aunt, no matter how small the feeling… because I can’t handle being hurt again.” Maggie understood every word. She saw the honesty in Freesia’s eyes. In that moment, she wished with all her heart that her son had truly fallen for this woman. “Can I give you a hug?” Maggie asked, opening her arms. “Of course, Aunt” Freesia said with a smile. They embraced warmly—under the quiet gaze of someone who had just entered the room. He smiled at the scene before him, a warmth blooming quietly in his chest.
