Chapter 17 – The Moon Ritual

645 Words
Part 1 The night was unusually still. Shadowclaw territory lay bathed in silver moonlight, the air thick with the scent of pine and the distant promise of danger. Kael led Lyla to the ancient glade deep within the forest—the place where her ancestors had once communed with the Moon Goddess. The trees here were colossal, their bark etched with runes that pulsed faintly with ancient energy. “Tonight,” Kael said, his voice low and commanding, “you will perform the Moon Ritual. It will strengthen your bloodline powers and bind your wolf fully to your destiny.” Lyla’s chest tightened. “What exactly will happen?” Kael’s golden eyes softened. “You will open yourself completely to the Moon Goddess. Your wolf will merge fully with your human instincts, your power, and your spirit. It’s not dangerous… if you trust yourself and trust us.” Her wolf growled softly in excitement. We are ready. Kael stepped back, giving her space. Lyla closed her eyes, raising her hands to the sky. The moon above seemed to respond, glowing brighter, silver light spilling across the glade. She could feel her ancestors’ presence, their whispers guiding her. Her wolf roared in delight from within her chest, senses heightened, instincts perfectly aligned with her spirit. The runes on the trees pulsed in rhythm with her heartbeat. Energy wrapped around her like a cloak, silver and powerful. This is ours. Part 2 As Lyla began the ritual, Kael stood beside her in wolf form, protective yet reverent. He could feel the power radiating from her, a force older and stronger than anything he had encountered in centuries. The Moon Goddess’ voice echoed softly in her mind. “Lyla… child of the ancient bloodline… awaken fully. Accept your destiny. Accept your power. Accept the bond that unites you with your mate.” Lyla exhaled, letting every doubt, every fear, every trace of the past dissolve. Her wolf merged completely with her human self, instincts and intelligence perfectly synchronized. Her aura flared, gold and silver intertwining, shimmering across the forest floor. Trees bent slightly as if bowing to her presence. Kael stepped closer, golden eyes soft, his massive form radiating strength. “You’re extraordinary,” he whispered. “I’ve never seen anything like this.” Lyla opened her eyes—they glowed bright gold. She could feel the energy of the forest, the power of her ancestors, and the blessing of the Moon Goddess flowing through her. Suddenly, a ripple of disturbance passed through the glade. Lyla stiffened, sensing it immediately. Kael growled low. “You’re not alone. Damon… and someone else.” Lyla’s chest tightened. Her wolf growled fiercely. We will face it. Together. From the shadows emerged Damon, flanked by a dark figure cloaked in black, radiating a power Lyla had never felt before. This was no ordinary pack member—this was a force older and darker, a threat that even Kael regarded with caution. “Lyla,” Damon said, his voice edged with desperation and arrogance. “You don’t belong here. You belong with me.” Kael stepped forward, placing himself between Lyla and Damon. “She belongs nowhere but here. With me. Together.” Lyla felt the surge of her bloodline power respond, protective, fierce, and unstoppable. Her aura flared brighter, light cutting through the darkness around Damon and his ally. The dark figure smirked, stepping forward. “So this is the child of the Moon Goddess… Let’s see if you’re worthy.” Lyla’s wolf growled, the sound vibrating through the glade. We are unbreakable. And in that moment, Lyla realized the truth: she was no longer a rejected mate. She was something far greater—an awakened wolf, bonded to her Alpha, and destined to claim the power and destiny of her bloodline. The first battle of the night was about to begin…
