Part 1
The morning air was crisp as Lyla stepped into the Shadowclaw training grounds.
Her muscles ached from the shift the night before, but her wolf was restless, full of energy and anticipation. She could feel the pulse of her newfound power coursing through her veins, igniting every fiber of her being.
Kael waited at the center of the clearing, arms crossed, his golden eyes assessing her like a predator sizing up its mate.
“You’re awake early,” he remarked, his deep voice carrying across the grounds.
“I couldn’t sleep,” Lyla admitted. “Something… changed inside me last night. My wolf—it feels stronger.”
Kael’s expression softened slightly. “That’s good. You’ll need every ounce of strength. The awakening isn’t just about power—it’s about control. The stronger your bond with your wolf, the stronger your control over your destiny.”
He took a step closer, his gaze sharp. “We start today.”
Kael led her through a series of exercises. First, simple endurance runs through the forest, testing her stamina and agility. Her wolf was eager, pushing her further than she thought possible. Lyla could feel herself shifting effortlessly, her senses sharper with every step.
Then came combat training. Kael demonstrated precise strikes, pawing motions, and shifts into full wolf form. Lyla mimicked him, feeling the strength and speed of her wolf merge seamlessly with her human body.
“Focus,” Kael instructed, moving to circle her. “Your wolf is part of you, but you must control it. Let it guide you—but never let it dominate you.”
Lyla nodded, determination burning in her chest.
Her wolf howled softly in response.
We are ready, Kael.
Kael’s golden eyes flickered with approval. “Good. Let’s push further.”
Part 2
As the sun climbed higher, Kael guided her into advanced training.
They sparred in wolf form, testing instincts, reflexes, and strength. Lyla found herself faster, her strikes sharper, and her senses heightened. She could feel the power building inside her—something ancient, something that had lain dormant, waiting for this exact moment.
After an hour, Kael finally stopped, breathing heavily. “Enough for now. You’re improving faster than I expected.”
Lyla wiped sweat from her brow, still catching her breath. “It feels… different. Like my wolf is more than just part of me. Like it’s… guiding me.”
Kael nodded. “That’s because it is. You’re not just an ordinary wolf. Your bloodline carries strength older than most packs in this region. That power is awakening now—and it’s responding to you.”
Her eyes widened. “Older than most packs?”
Kael’s gaze darkened. “Yes. The Moon Goddess has marked you for a purpose, Lyla. You were never meant to belong to Damon. Your destiny lies elsewhere… and it begins here, with me, in Shadowclaw territory.”
Lyla’s chest tightened. Part of her still ached at the memory of Damon’s rejection—but the stronger pull of her wolf, and now Kael’s presence, was overwhelming.
Her wolf stirred inside her, soft and insistent.
This is ours. Our time begins.
Kael’s eyes softened as he observed her. “We’ll train every day until your power is fully awakened. Only then will you be ready for what’s coming. And trust me—those who seek you will come sooner than you think.”
Lyla nodded, a mixture of determination and fear in her chest.
We are ready, her wolf whispered.
And for the first time in her life, Lyla felt like she was exactly where she was meant to be.
