Fae.
I followed him until we reached a room with a sign on the door that said "The Club President's Office." I watched him unlock the door and go inside, but I didn't follow. I stood outside the room because I didn't trust him. I thought there was probably no one else inside.
"Why don't you come in?" he asked, stepping out when he saw I hadn't followed him inside.
"If you have something to say, say it here."
"Why... are you scared?"
"No," I replied. Who would admit to being scared?
"If you're not scared, then come in."
"I'm not going in."
"Are you coming in willingly, or do I need to drag you in?"
"Don't do anything crazy, Hunter."
"Oh, you still remember your husband, huh?"
"I've never had a husband. Watch your language."
"Seems like you've forgotten. No problem, I'll help jog your memory." Before I could respond, he grabbed my arm and pulled me into the room, locking the door before I realized what was happening.
"Let go! What are you doing? Why lock the door?" I asked, trying to shake my arm free from his grip, but he didn't seem to care. He dragged me to the sofa in the corner of the room and threw me onto it, placing his hands on the backrest to trap me, making it impossible for me to get up.
"What... what are you going to do?"
"Why, are you scared?"
"Why would I be scared of you?" He smiled at me and let his eyes travel from my hair down to my face, then further down to... my chest. I quickly covered it with my hands. Although it wasn't indecently exposed, it was tight enough to be noticeable.
"It's been a while, and you've gotten so beautiful I barely recognized you, my... ex-wife." His mocking tone and teasing eyes made me clench my fists to suppress my anger before forcing a smile and replying.
"Thank you for the compliment, my... ex-husband."
"Huh, ex-husband. So, you have a new husband now?"
"Probably like you, who doesn't know how many wives you have now."
"I only have you as my wife." What did he mean by that? I didn't understand, call me stupid if you want.
"What are you saying? I don't understand."
"I'm just saying I've never given the status of 'wife' to anyone but you."
"Oh, should I be thrilled to have the 'honor' of being your wife?"
"No need, because you're just an ex-wife... just an old thing I don't want anymore." Does it sting to hear that? But I won't let him know how I feel about his words.
"So you think I want you then?"
"If you don't want me, why did you come to study here, knowing full well that you'd run into me?"
"Because I want you to know that I don't care about you. I can face a bastard like you without feeling anything."
"You must have been deeply hurt by what I did to you, but don't expect an apology from me."
"I never expected one. The past three years have taught me a lot. They've shown me that this world isn't just full of bad people like you. There are good men out there who've come into my life and made me happy."
"So you really do have a new husband, huh?"
"Think about what you want. Even if I have a hundred new husbands, it's none of your business."
"Of course, it's none of my business because I don't care how many new husbands you have."
"Good."
"By the way... does your new husband satisfy you like I used to?" He leaned in to whisper in my ear. It was an indecent question that left me speechless.
"Is that all you think about?"
"Oh, I was just asking out of curiosity like your ex-husband. In case your new husband can't make you happy, I'm willing to step in."
"Thanks for your concern, but you don't need to step in. I'm almost overwhelmed with happiness these days. He makes me happier than when I was with you." When I said that, he immediately looked displeased, and I felt utterly satisfied.
Hunter.
These days, I'm almost overwhelmed with happiness. He makes me happier than when I was with you.
Why does that answer feel oddly suffocating? But whatever, why should I care? Because right now, I just want... to relive the memories we once shared when we were happy together.
"How about we relive those memories a bit? Just in case you've forgotten how exciting my moves in bed were for you. Can they compare to your new husband's?"
"Don't try anything stupid here, Hunter. This is a university!!"
"Oh, so if it were somewhere else, you wouldn't mind?"
"No matter where we are, I won't let you do that to me again."
"What right do you have to tell me what to do? If I want something, I'll take it."
"You're disgusting!"
"So what? I'm still your ex, your first, and lucky to have been your first."
"Bastard!" she shouted, and I pulled her in for a kiss. A forceful, passionate kiss. Fae struggled to resist, but she wasn't strong enough. I kissed her selfishly, full of longing and nostalgia—feelings I had never experienced with any other woman. Especially not with someone I had already walked away from. Then I let her go.
Slap!!! My face turned from the force of her slap. Did it hurt? Not really, it was just numb. This was the second time she slapped me. The first was when we broke up; she slapped me then, and this time, it was her again.
"You're still the same jerk, Hunter. I can't believe I ever loved someone like you."
"But you did love me once."
"Because I was foolish back then. But now I've wised up. Still, thanks for letting me experience the pain. It makes me stronger to this day."
With that, Fae pushed me away with disdain in her eyes and walked out of the room. I watched her leave without stopping her.
