CHAPTER 61: BETWEEN LIFE AND DEATH “This won’t do!” Argus gulps as they peer on the mirror of life. Both him and his twin brother, the messenger of death are both trembling as the scene unconcealed. How can they not be afraid? Fret as Luna, the moon Goddess seems like she would disobey what fate weave. Just like what he had done before. The child they are pre-supposed to reap live, prolonging, leading a life that was far from the misfortune they prepared. Her soul that has been marked, but stolen.  Kiro, the monster who had been previously under their care, carried her on the table.  The two look at each other.  “Should we interfere?” Their eyes meet.  Draken shook his head off.  “We can’t leave our dimension yet.” He said. “There is a war that was taking in Place in Salem. And we shouldn’t abandon our post now that our reaper may have lead souls in any moment now.” That’s right. As the turmoil unfolded, new souls who peril and perish would soon come. Thus far, it means Draken and Argus are compensated to stay, and guide them to where the scale was. They are the pasture, who are supposed to lead them to where they should be. It was their duty. It is their sole responsibility as a messenger of death, however they just couldn’t ignore what was happening. As it took place, there’s no merit to what would happen. The balance they maintained same with before would come across into a chaos. It would be ruined, and there’s no assurance this time if it would be beyond any repair.  When Luna has been punished before. She had been sent to a far away dimension for a thousand of years ago. She was imprisoned for a very long time to repent after her sin. This does not allowed her to look after her creations, nor talk to those who seek for her help. An abandonment they think she had committed as they turned away. Some became rogues, but Midas lead his species with cadence. Bold authority with his iron fist hand. However, that does not include the damage which cost the realm greatly.  It take a lot of effort, of patience mend what has been broken. To place a lot of things on their right places, and now—they couldn’t allow for the same thing to happen as it would be another messy uproars they would be ask to tend. Draken and Argus knew that their Lord would forbid the resurrection they could tell would took place. A debt that the moon Goddess would be ask to pay, and there’s no don’t that she wouldn’t just stand still, in spite of their warning.  Argus look at his brother.  Their eyes meet.  “Lord Azrael would handle the matter.” He reassured him.  And so forth, left with no choice, all they can do was to watch and sit back, wait for the souls who’ll walked on their dimension.  But Argus hope that to what extent it may have become, he was hoping that it won’t lead for the Goddess banishment from her spot ** “Are you really sure about this?” Luna softly said.  She is one of the most beautiful goddess whom Kiro have seen. Same with how many would describe Luna, she looks innocent, the naïve look, although filled with wisdom had made her to appeared soft, and kind. One of the kindest, yet often taken fro granted. Kiro isn’t a fool to what legend hold her blood in line. A forbidden love leading for the current ruler, her ancestor to punished the wolves into those beast, but never today as they are look after, protected by Luna. Her skin was pale, a flawless complexion as if there’s nothing, not even a scratch nor dirt would cling on her body as if they are the one who’ll feel shame for smearing even on her clothes. Moreover, the light she emitted, a pureness which blind Kiro, no matter how much he put forth his efforts to withstand her luminesce. It was just harder. It was difficult thing for her as he is one of those creature who had been moulded, created from the darkness itself.  “Alpha said that you are the only one who could help us, no her.” Kiro replied to her question.  His eyes bathing towards Leandra, who was slowly slipping away from them. She was growing weaker each second.  “She’s dying.” He added and said.  “I know.” Luna state the obvious. She lowered her hand to touch her lips, which is slowly getting paler. The red tiny it no longer have as it parted. “But she needed to be dead. Leandra must die, Kiro.” “W—what?” He was perplexed at what she said.  “Did the Alpha tell you that she is supposed to die? But she lived, when she shouldn’t have been...” Luna trailed of.  “I don’t understand.” He was too stunned. “What do you mean she isn’t supposed to live? The Alpha said you can help, that there is a debt you should pay, Luna.” “That debt.” She smiled at the sudden memory. “But can’t he tell that I have paid it for a very long time already?” “What do you mean?” Kiro frowns.  “The turmoil which his species cause.” Luna began. “The war which took away her home.” She continue as her gaze drifted to her sleeping form and towards her chest, which is slowly easing until nothing left...the beat it lost, which made Kiro to be seize with panic.  “L—Luna!” A crisp yell as his eyes widened.  His orbs was bulging on its sockets as he tried to run where Leandra was, but he can’t. A binding seal stop him from even going closer at her.  “Please—!” His chest was beating loudly, it was drumming as he slammed his hand in an attempt to destroy the barrier, but what can he do to fight against a God’s power? Nothing. And so Kiro left with no choice, all what he can do was to beg for her. “P—please, you needed to save her, Luna!” “Why should I save her, Kiro?” Luna’s sullen eyes meet his the moment she glance over her shoulder. “Why does her life meant more than those who are dying as we talk? What importance she hold that they do not have?” “P—please...” His voice trembled. “T—the Alpha needs her...!” Or does he? But he keep her closed. He keep her protected, when he had done that to nobody before. Leandra was left unpunished, even though she should be. She was left unscathed, no wounds or scraps he had let some to befall on her, and now, the fact when Midas came, when Kiro was ready to reap away the life she had.  “She may be.” Luna looked back at her. “And I may have regret of what I am going to do, but there’s no lament if it is the only thing that I can do for my realm, for my people, for his happiness...”  Midas happiness. The child she never had the chance to hold.  With that said, a strange circle appeared underneath the pair. Kiro shielded his eyes although he yearns to look. But he couldn’t bear the light this time.  “W—what’s happening, Luna? What are you doing?” But he earn no response much longer.  On the other hand, regardless of what would be the consequences of her action, and her disobeying the code of the Gods, she continued. The process of resurrection that she never had the chance to do so....before. A single tear escape from her eyes.  “You are a god, and Gods shouldn’t do any mistakes. A God is known for being flawless, are you getting my point, maiden?” It was the current Luna who was standing affront, holding her ground as she towered her small form.  Luna nodded her head. But the tears on her eyes, the moistness of her pupils and the hurt expression embark the pain she had been put through.  “I am doing this for you, maiden.” She said.  But she knew better. The current Luna isn’t as kind as everybody know her for. She is cruel, and those who stood next in line for her spot have not gotten any mercy as her training often consist of dangerous task, and assignment which could put them in danger. But she couldn’t complain, how can she? She have an authority that they do not have. And it won’t change the fact that the Gods would sided to her more than the maidens. The unnamed maidens, who were created by the light to serve their creations. To be look above, and maintain the balance.  Once chosen, anybody from them could be named as Luna, and those who would be left out will be disregard and dissolve, which made everybody fear the most. But what value they hold? They are just a puppet, burdened by duties and responsibilities, which make them special. But to be a God as what she think the moment that their training begins, it was lonely. To become powerful is equal into becoming alone.  You will trot and that is not what she wanted. It leads for the unnamed maiden, her before, the young Luna to disobey, and wander—she went out to the land, where she met a man, who was at the same age as her. The man who made her feel things, which is against to why she had been brought to life in the first place. This angered the Goddess, and when she think that all was going well for the both of them, she had been yanked back to the Alps.  “But I know you are stubborn.” The current Luna through gritted teeth said. “I know you will keep doing what you did, didn’t you?” She added. “If so, then I have no choice but to show that man of yours to never ever lay a hand to one of my maidens.” Her eyes widened. She knew what was coming!  “N—no, please!” But it was too late. To appeased her wrath, which seems to be indestructible, she was left defenceless against her as she watched with her wears on her eyes as the curse begin. The birth of the wolves, the unborn child to be taken she didn’t know bear. A fruitful love which ended for her lover to be paired with a woman, a mate, and so as she reign, she carries her broken heart as she watched.  Never had she introduced herself to Midas. Never had she expected him to even rescued her, when she was not looking forward to it.  Luna closed her eyes as those memories plunged and played, they repeated, continuously playing as they vented.  “Midas...” She knew that what she is doing is right. For Midas. For her son. She hope at least she could make up the years, whereas Luna couldn’t even become the mother he needs. But in exchange of, she is always well aware that what she is committing is a crime. An unforgivable sin tat would destroy what she had ruined once. For saving Leandra, and doing it so for the second time...around. @cycy
