“I heard he's a no-nonsense man, an ex-officer who switched his career from the army to the banking sector.”
Hearing of this, Dante’s mind relaxed.
The customers sneered at him. “He must vs dying of fear but manages to pretend like nothing is happening.”
He balled his fist.
The manager all of a sudden walked stoutly forward. “Where's that bastard that dares to cause commotion in this banking hall? Let me get him bundled and thrown into jail.”
The cashier and everyone pointed at Dante. He stood straight, head held high up, eyes cold. Suddenly the manager was falling on his knees.
Dante couldn't be less surprised in as much as he suspected something like this.
“Sir, we are so sorry!”
“I apologize so deeply for the inconvenience you must have encountered.”
Everyone stepped back, face pale with horror. Anxiety lurked in the air.
“Are you still standing to watch me apologize for you all?”
“Come on, get on your knees and beg him, we can't afford to have a troop of–”
Dante sealed his mouth.
“Prefer to keep an air of mystery.”
“Okay sir, okay sir!”
The manager nodded several times. “Get down on your knees and apologize or leave this bank and never come back, including you.” He pointed at the cashier.
“Do you know the amount he's here to withdraw?”
Everyone fell on their knees.
“Right now, say we are sorry, sir.” The manager ordered. Dante couldn't believe it.
“We are sorry sir,” they mumbled.
“Which biggest flex could exist other than this?” Dante taunted the customers and the cashier who had molested him. He smirked in mockery, walking past them with the manager to the VIP withdrawal unit.
“Mr Dante it's good to have you here. So what amount do you plan to withdraw from the account?” the manager asked him as he ushered him to have a seat.
“I'm here to withdraw every penny from the account into my account.”
“What, the whole 800 billion dollars?” The manager asked in shock.
Dante was surprised by this, he never expected that there was such an amount in the account.
“Yeah, everything and I need the statement of account too.”
“I will get that immediately, give me a minute.” The manager said, after which he ran out and got the statement of account for Dante.
“Go and keep Mr Dante company while I sort out the statement, whatever you do try not to annoy him.” The mansard to his secretary while he went ahead to sort out the statement of account.
He returned a few minutes later and handed a file to Dante.
“Here is the detailed account of all the transactions that had been done in the account.”
“Thank you.” Dante took the file and went through it. “It seems like my grandfather's money has grown over the years. I'm impressed, I had thought that you had given me the wrong amount.”
“The bank is grateful to have a customer like your grandfather so the least we could do was help him multiply his deposit. The money was from the monthly interest from his initial deposit.”
“That's good, have the money transferred to my account immediately.”
“I will do just that Mr Dante.”
Dante sat there and waited for everything to be processed. The moment money entered his account, left the bank.
He had entered the bank penniless but had come out of it as a billionaire in just a few hours. After he left the bank he went straight to grandfather's lawyers office.
“You must be Mr Dante. The ban just informed me about the withdrawal you made.”
“Yes I'm Dante and you are?”
“My father had retired a few years back and I've been the one overseeing all your grandfather's properties.”
“OK, I need your help with something else.”
“Sure, I'm at your service Mr Dante.”
“I need you to draft a divorce agreement for me.” Dante did not see the need of keeping Elene by his side anymore. To him she was not worthy to enjoy his wealth with him.
“OK. Do you have anything you want to give to her so I can add it in the agreement?”
“It's good enough that I'm not requesting anything from her, with what she has done to me and my daughter I'm granting her a favour. Just add that my daughter will have nothing to do with her in future.”
“Alright, noted. I will get the paperwork ready in a few minutes.”
The lawyer handed the divorce papers to him which he took and headed straight to Elene’s apartment for her to sign.
Knock…knock..knock
“Who is it?” Elene asked in an angry tone as she walked to the door with a bathrobe and her lover behind her.
“It's Dante.”
“Why do you insist on being an eyesore to me and my fiance.” She said as she opened the door.
“Can I come in?”
“Come in and do what? Come in and stain my house with your wretched smell, damn you stink. I just got rid of the stench from your last visit, I won't make the mistake of letting you in again.”
Dante looked coldly at her as she spoke, his aura scared Elene and she took a step back falling into Fred's arm.
“What are you here for? If it's money you want just say it and stop trying to scare my wife.”
“Your wife? The last time I checked we're still married.”
“Married, that reminds me. Had it not been for my busy schedule, why would I still want to be with a peasant like you, that's an insult to me. Would want to remain married to such a low life like you. I wonder how you were able to convince me to marry you.”
“Here, sign it and that will be the end of our marriage.” Dante said, handing Elene the divorce agreement.
“What is this?” Elene asked as she took the document from Dante, she avoided making contact with him as she felt like he was filthy. “Divorce papers, is this real? How can someone as wretched as you afford a lawyer? Where did you get this from?” She said while laughing, she didn't read the document further. It was clearly stated that she would have no claim over his assets in future.
“Read through it and sign it if there's nothing wrong.”
“You better not regret it in future.” As she was about to sign her name on it when Fred took it away from her.
“Let's make sure he's not planning anything stupid. You know wretched people can go the extra mile to get what they want.” He glances through it after making sure there was nothing wrong he handed it over to her.
“Everything is in our favour, he's taking that little b***h with him so no need for child support.”
“That's a relief, we're finally getting rid of her for good. I've signed it. This better be the last time I see your disgusting face in my house again. Leave quickly before you fill my house with your bad omen.”
“Bebe you're finally free from this… loser. We can finally be free from his clutches, I have been scared that he would come asking for money from me.” Fred said, staring condensely at Dante.
“What are you still doing here? What else do you want?” Elene asked.
Dante clutched into the document, his fingers turning white. He said nothing else and turned to leave.
He only took a few steps when he had a spraying sound coming from behind. Elene had gone inside to get an air freshener and was spraying it where Dante stood a few minutes ago.
“You will regret this, Elene!” Dante said without turning back. Elene brushed it off and did not take it seriously to her; it was just like an annoying fly buzzing.
She went back into her apartment happily basking in the joy of being free, she was unaware of the storm that was brewing slowly.
