Chapter 6 - Soulmates

1242 Words
Rose “Excuse me? I’m sorry, but what does my belief in mates or soulmates have to do with my questions? What does it have to do with anything that is happening around or to me? Elijah, is it? Right?” Elijah looks at me with wide eyes and a smirk on his lips. I look at him with one of my eyebrows raised. “Why are you smiling at me?,” I asked him as I felt my face heating up again. Oh gosh, why does he look like a god? I didn’t take a good look at Noah, but I know that if Elijah looks that way, so does Noah since they looked almost identical from what I could recall from such a short meeting. I would have to ask them if they were related. Both of them looked like they didn’t belong there. They both looked like they were made out of this rare gem. You couldn’t compare them to anything at all. I am pulled out of my thoughts when I hear Elijah clearing his throat. I looked away, trying not to give myself away. Rose, you have been staring. How is he not going to know if he just looked at you? “I am asking you, because I’d like to know what you think about a soulmate,” Elijah tells me. I started by telling him I do and don’t believe in soulmates and that I’ve been through so much in life after losing both of my parents at the age of nine. I saw the love that both of my parents had for each other and I wanted that. I wanted to be loved, to be cared for. To have someone who will love me and only me, to be with me and not with someone else. That person would become my home and I would be his home. I told him my thoughts on having a soulmate meant finding your authentic self and discovering that you are not alone. Love takes us deeper into the self yet goes beyond itself. That for me is to be loved by someone, my other half, the half of my soul, the one to make me complete. Telling him all of this made me miss my parents more than life. “So, you do and don’t believe in soulmates anymore? What if I tell you that there is someone out there for you? Would you believe me?,” Elijah said. I look at him for a minute. “May I ask you why would you want to know if I believe in it or not?,” I asked him. He’s looking at me with something I can’t comprehend. Is it love or care in his eyes? The more I look at him I feel like I am being drawn to him. It feels like something is pulling me to him. Pulling me to touch him, to kiss him? Did I really want to? No, wait why am I feeling this? I started to think about the dream I had. Was it a dream? Or did I create something that wasn’t true? Before I can ask him anything, the door to the room opens, drawing me back to reality. I look away from Elijah and look at Noah. I think I am going crazy. Why am I feeling these sensations towards these two handsome guys? “I have food ready,” Noah says while looking at me with the most beautiful smile. At that same moment, my stomach growls, making my face heat up from embarrassment. I facepalm while I hear both of them chuckle. “Oh, very funny, I see,” I pouted, making both of them laugh even more. “Ready to eat, Rose? I don't know what you like but my mother made a homemade remedy soup. It’s a chicken noodle soup, it has onions, celery, basil and oregano, carrots and the most important ingredients are noodles and chicken,” he chuckles. His chuckles made my body shiver, a good shiver. “Yes, I'm ready to eat. I'm starving,” I say jokingly. They both smile at me and Noah serves me. We start to eat in silence. The silence isn’t uncomfortable; it was actually something I could get used to. After all three of them finished eating, Noah got up and cleaned up all the plates. I kept staring at Noah while he moved around cleaning up the dinner we just had. I didn’t want to look away and didn’t understand what was going on. Why was I interested in not just one but both? Can I really be feeling these feelings for someone I haven’t met before. I flushed when I heard someone clearing their throat. I looked away and closed my eyes. “Sir Noah, Sir Elijah, can I ask you both a question?” “Yes, you can,” they both answer at the same time. Noah ends up finishing by saying, “please, don’t call us Sir. You’re making us sound older than what we are, sweetheart.” I felt my face heat up, knowing that I was blushing at the name he had called me. “W-why did Elijah ask me if I believed mates or soulmates? I’ve heard of that before but I think it was in a dream. I think I met someone there. She stayed with me and told me a lot of things about me but I don’t think they’re true. It was a dream.” “What did you dream about?,” Noah says after he sits back down and this time they are both really close to me. “How about you both answer my questions and I can answer your questions? Sounds fair enough, right?,” I say, chuckling and giving them a toothy smile. They both chuckle at me. “Okay, love, who should start?,” Elijah says with a smile that can melt your heart away. “Either of you can start.” “Okay, I asked you that question because my brother and I wanted to come and explain a few things to you. We needed to know how much or what you know about mates,” Elijah says. We both looked at each other. He smiled and I smiled right back, knowing that my face is red from my blush. I looked away. “Mates or soulmates for us and everyone else are people who belong together. It’s the other half of your soul and when you meet that special person you guys connect. You’ll know just by looking at the person. The feelings you get is an instant recognition. You will be inexplicably drawn to each other and accept the other person for who they are. There is more to it than that, at least for my brother and I. Now that we both answered, can you tell us about the dream you had? Maybe we can help you figure it out,” Noah said. “I-I don’t know where to start. I don’t know if I made everything up or if it really was a dream.” “Tell us sweetheart,” Noah said. I start blushing as I start to tell them everything that I think is okay to say while keeping some back to myself. I remember she said not to trust everyone and I didn’t know if I could trust them at the moment.
