Alexander got a call from his private detective, John. He hired John 3 months ago when he became suspicious of his wife's movement. His wife Clara might have been cheating on him with someone else. So he needed to know if she was cheating or not and if she was, who she was cheating on him with.

So Detective John was hired for the work. Detective John called Alexander that he had some findings he needed him to know. Alexander went to the private place. Detective John told him to come. He got there and met Detective John in the enclosed area.

John saw him coming and stood up to meet him.

“You are welcome, Mr Brooks. I am so sorry you had to come to this place,” he said stretching his hand to shake him

Alexander received his handshake. “No worries, Detective John. You said you have some findings you want to share with me about my wife?”

“Yes I did, these are pictures I took of your wife and a certain man in a restaurant,” Detective John said while handing over an envelope to Alexander.

Alexander collected the envelope and took out the pictures inside. He saw his wife and a man eating in a restaurant. And the man was his best friend in college, Ray Thompson. He found it hard to believe, so he told Detective John that this was not enough evidence to accuse his wife of cheating.

“I know the man in the picture. He was my best friend while in college” he paused, “ but we stopped talking a long time ago after we left college because he traveled to another country, so we lost contact”, he continued.

“So he can't possibly be in this town, having an affair with my wife, I find it hard to believe, “ he said in disbelief.

“Mr Brooks, believe me, this is the man your wife has been having an affair with,” Detective John said affirmatively.

“No, he can not be the one, I trust Ray, and he can't have an affair with Clara and this is not even enough evidence to hold them with,” he said “What if they coincidentally met in that restaurant?” He asked.

Detective John felt he hadn't done his job well, and he needed to put more effort into his work and the man in the picture might not be the one Clara was having an affair with.

“I am sorry Mr Brooks, I guess I was wrong. I will continue with my investigation and this time, the truth will be revealed.”

Alexander contemplated giving the job to another person since Detective John was not capable, but he later changed his mind and offered him a second chance.

“I will give you another chance and this time, make sure you get me the right information,” he said sternly.

“Yes, I will”, Detective John replied.

“Have a good day, Detective John,” he said and left.

“And you too, Mr Brooks” he replied, watching him leave the place.

Alexander got home feeling guilty about what he was doing to his wife by hiring a private detective to monitor her movements, but he needed to clear his suspicion about Clara.

He got home and met his wife in their bedroom sleeping. She looked cute and innocent while she slept. And he doesn't think someone as innocent and beautiful as Clara would do such a thing as cheating.

Clara opened her eyes and was surprised to catch her husband staring at her while she was asleep.

“Alexander, you scared me,” she said, lifting her head from the bed.

“I am just looking at how beautiful you are” he smiled, touching her face and admiring her beauty.

“You are handsome too, Alex,” she said, moving to kiss him.

Alexander swiftly kissed her back and thought about asking her about Ray Thompson.

“Did you by chance see Ray Thompson in town?” Alexander asked, looking at her.

Clara's heart skipped a bit, but she quickly recovered from the shock.

“Ray Thompson,” she said, as though she was confused and didn't know who the person was. “Do you mean Ray, your best friend at college?” She asked.

“Yes, my college best friend” he confirmed.

“No, I haven't seen him since graduation” she replied. “Why did you ask? He is your best friend and not mine,” she asked

Alexander thought of what to reply to, and he quickly said something to cover up.

“Yes, I know he was my best friend, I have just been curious about him lately, and I was thinking you might have seen him and forgot to tell me about it,” he said.

“No I haven't” she replied.

“Alright then”. He stood up and started undressing. “I need to freshen up, so I can relax,” he said

Clara also stood up from the bed. “ I will be going downstairs,” she said and gave him a peck.

She has always been cautious that nobody finds out about her relationship with Ray Thompson, especially her husband Alexander. She had been having an affair with Ray since college and after college, they continued their relationship. Even when she got married to Alexander, she kept meeting Ray secretly.

She got married to Alexander because her stepfather wanted her to do so unless she would inherit his property, she had no choice but to marry him and leave the love of her life, Ray Thompson.

Alexander asking her about Ray is something for her to panic about because her husband must not find her about her illicit affair with his best friend in college.

She picked up her phone and dialed a number. The receiver picked at the first ring

“We need to meet urgently,” she said to

the person at the receiving end.
