Chapter Twenty-Four
As soon as they were all seated, Seth slid his list across the table to Nicholas. “Since you seem pressed for time, we’ll get straight to the point. We feel we’ve been extremely reasonable in our demands considering the nature and uniqueness of our situation.”
Nicholas perused the page in front of him. “You can forget the first demand. This isn’t a classroom where you can say you don’t feel like doing a job.”
“It’s not a question of liking the job. It’s the right to refuse any job we find morally questionable,” Seth said.
“We’re not assassins,” Ashley added.
Nicholas turned his gaze on her. “Yet.”
Ashley rose to her feet. “Well, I can’t say it’s been nice meeting you, Nick. But that’s one point we won’t budge on.”
“Sit down.” Nicholas gestured towards the chair.
