One True Mate - Chapter 9

Chapter 9 -Evie

I heard a growl I turned my head to see three wolves staring back at us, snarling. I froze

“Evie I need you to listen to me. Slowly stand up and when I tell you to run, you run ok?” Julian muttered

“Are you insane they will come after us.”

“I will hold them off.” Julian whispered. Was he crazy? He couldn’t hold off three wolves, nor was I gonna be so stupid as to run.

“If he act all tough an mighty they will go away, I seen that on the animal channel”

“These aren’t those kind of wolves Evie.” He kissed my cheek

“Everything it gonna be ok.” With that he pushed me off him I landed on my side he stood up facing the beasts, he jumped at the front one, but when he hit the ground in front of it he had four black paws, the front with a white star shape. I gasped, then I screamed. But none of the wolves were looking at me.

I did a crab crawl into the bushes as Julian . . . I think jumped at the wolves. He began fighting two of them, but one came at me.

I sat there, frozen in place. Do something you i***t! My mind screamed I took a deep breath and tried to get oxygen to my limbs to get them moving, I looked to my left to see a broken branch, it was too far to reach, so I would have to get up and run for it,

 move dumbass! My voice screamed. I jumped running for the branch, I felt teeth dig into my ankle I yelped as my finger grasped the branch. Using strength I didn’t know I had I flipped onto my back, the wolf pounced for me, I swung the branch like a baseball bat hitting the tip of the grey wolves nose. It yelped losing it’s balance and rolling to my right, stopping only when it hit a nearby tree. I turned to look at Julian, he was holding his own, growling protectively in front of me, snapping his uh. . . jaws taking on the two wolves. I could see blood gushing from his side. Another growl came from my right. The wolf had recovered.

“Shit.” I mumbled. Another growl came from behind me, suddenly another wolf run through the trees I gasped slipping into the fetal position, not knowing what else to do.

This is how I died. My body would be found torn to shreds, in a f*****g forest behind a god damn library! Instead of attacking me the blonde wolf jumped over me, landing on the grey one growling, ready to rip his throat out. I couldn’t watch as his teeth dug into it.

I turned back to Julian he was on his side, both wolves ready to rip him apart. “NO!” I jumped up, running for the candle still sitting on the blanket. I threw it at one of the wolves standing over Julian it hit the middle of his back, lighting some of his fur on fire before it burnt out . . .  well that didn’t go as planned. They both turned to look at me.

“f**k!” this gave Julian a surprise attack he jumped up biting down on the neck of the one wolf. I heard padded footsteps running from behind me, I knew it was the blonde wolf I ducked as he jumped over me again, finishing off the last wolf.

It was silent, all that could be heard was the crickets and the sound of our heavy breathing. Julian . . . wolf Julian laid down whimpering, he didn’t want to move, he didn’t want to scare me. The blonde wolf nodded at me and headed into the trees, I heard grunting then walked a human, not just any human…. It was Domanic.

He had his hands up in the air, holding another T-shirt and a pair of pants, he set them beside Julian, Julian looked at him and slowly stood up while Dom talked.

“Evie I need you to be calm ok, we can explain, but please don’t . . . scream ok?” I nodded my head.

“Ok” I squeaked, my heart was still racing, it was beating so fast I thought I might have a heart attack, I felt light headed. Calm down Evie, they won’t hurt you, they both just saved you!  . . . the boy you kissed also just turned into a wolf in 2.5 seconds!

Dom hands were still up in the air in a surrender position, he knelt down about two feet from me. “Julian?” I whispered.

Dom smiled slightly “he’s just getting dressed, he kinda ripped his clothes up, which by the way his mom is gonna be pissed about” he joked, I gave a small smile. At that moment Julian came running out of the bushes, now fully dressed he ran up to me hugging me to him

 “mine” he growled hugging me to his chest I squeaked again the breath rushing out of my body, he was holding to tight. I tried to wiggle free, but he was too strong.

“Julian calm down, she’s safe, you’re hurting her.” Dom whispered, not to scare him or me.

“mine.” He growled again.

“Julian. Stop!” I was gasping for breath Julian’s face dug into my hair.

“Snap out of it man!” Dom shouted, suddenly Julian’s hold on me loosened, but he didn’t let go I pulled back, just staring at him. I wasn’t his, I wasn’t anybodies! I pushed on his chest, trying to put space between us, he growled, his eyes turning black.

“Evie, please don’t he’s trying to stay in control right now, his wolf is trying to get out, just let him be near you.” Dom explained, a urgent tone is his voice. I stopped struggling, staying completely still.

“His wolf?” I asked

“Yes his wolf, the other part of him.” I stared into Julian’s eyes, the black slowly faded returning to their normal gorgeous color.

“Evie, oh god I’m so sorry, are you ok?” Julian checked me over running his hands down my body, I let him.

“I’m fine” I groaned, frustrated. “I’m not the one, who is bleeding” I said pointing to his side, both boys turned to Julian’s side. It wasn’t bleeding nearly as bad.

“Don’t worry it will heal in a few minutes.” Julian groaned. I raised my eyebrow. “We heal a lot faster.” He shrugged.

“and what exactly are you?” I asked. I knew the answer, but I needed to hear it.

“ Jeez Evie, I thought you were smarter than that.” Dom crossed his arms rolling his eyes. Julian turned to him and growled, he sunk back “sorry man” he muttered. Julian turned to face me again. Taking my hands in his he lifted them to his lips.

“We—“ he stopped took a deep breath “We are werewolves”
