Marigold POV
The teacher is currently giving a lecture on human anatomy. I sit at my desk with my hand holding my chin up. I am so unbelievably bored. I started to scan the science lab. The corners of my lips curl up as my eyes land on the cabinet full of chemicals. The plan starts to formulate quickly. I raised my hand and asked to use the restroom. The teacher nodded his head and I stood up. I walked over to the classroom next door that was empty. I got giddy when the chemical cabinet looked the same. I tried to open it but it was locked.
I used my hand to smash the glass window. I stopped and listened to make sure no one heard it. I open the cabinet door and started and read through the labels. I grab a handful of bottles and look up. They have tons of sprinklers on the ceiling that never get used. I feel bad for the sprinklers. They never have a purpose in life.
I peeked down the hall before leaving the room. I walked down the hallway that was lined with lockers. High school sucks. I am almost finished with my last year here and I cannot be happier. I never want to do school again. I went to the maintenance room and peeked my head inside. No one is here. I let out a little giggle. I walked over to an oval-shaped tank in the corner. I found a small lid on the top.
Turning the lid was a challenge. That thing seems to be very tightly sealed. I do manage to get it off. I pour the bottles of chemicals into the tank. I can hear the sound of the chemicals reacting together. I quickly toss the lid back on and twist it tightly shut. I let out another giggle. I leave the bottles behind and run out of the maintenance room. I walked to the exit and stood by the door. I looked up and waited.
I furrow my eyebrows when nothing seems to happen. Maybe I forgot an ingredient. An idea pops in my head and I run back to the empty classroom. I grab the portable stove used to heat up the beakers and plug it in. I click the switch and the flame ignites. I stand on a desk and hold up the flame to the sprinkler. My hand starts to get tired and I feel disappointed. I was about to give up when it worked. The sprinklers started to spray a blue substance that turned into foam when it hit the ground. The room started to fill up fast with soapy fluffy foam. I head for the door to see kids running and screaming down the hallway.
I wipe foam out of my light reddish blond hair and head towards the exit. “Marigold Adams!!!” I froze at the sound of the principal's voice. I turned around, and he was currently waist deep in blue foam. It is also piled on top of his head. “Principle Levy” I give my most innocent smile.
“Outside now!” He walked towards the exit, slushing the foam around, and I followed him. Kids are running outside covered in blue. There are blue footprints all over the sidewalk and grass. “This is the last straw. You are expelled.”
My mouth fell open. “I didn’t do anything wrong,” I argued. There was a very loud bang coming from the direction of the maintenance room. Blue foam goes flying from the roof into the sky at a very high speed. It goes up and falls back down with a splat all over the ground. Everyone standing outside got hit by the foam again. Now that….was not a part of the plan. I looked over at Principal Levy, and he appeared to be livid. I am not sure if I have seen that color of purple on someone's face before. “Principle Levy…” I gave another attempt at an innocent smile.
“Get the hell off my school!” he bellowed.
“Marigold!” The sound of my sister’s voice yelling for me comes through the principles bellowing. I turned around and saw her covered in blue. She is holding a backpack that is also blue now. “What the hell did you do?” She also seemed livid.
“She is expelled. Get her out of here, or you will join her.” Her face turned red as she ran forward and dragged me by my arm. We get in her car, and she starts to speed away. She started to yell at me all the way home. “I cannot believe you! You cannot do stuff like that. This is childish behavior. I cannot leave you alone for five minutes. Normally, people do not do things like that. Mom and dad are going to be so damn angry.”
I just smiled at her innocently. “Do you want to go get ice cream?” I asked to change topics. Her eyes grew really wide, and she gripped the steering wheel tighter. She started to mumble stuff under her breath. “I love you.” I say with a smile and she exhales loudly.
“Oh okay...we can get ice cream. We have to go home and change first.”
We went to an ice cream shop. I could eat ice cream every single day for the rest of my life. It is so good. We are sitting down eating it outside, and I notice a man watching my sister. He walks over, and my sister looks up. She seemed to be enchanted by him. I scrunched up my nose. I don’t like him at all.
“My name is Liam. I was wondering if I could join you for ice cream.” I answered no. At the same time, my sister answered yes. Tiffany gave me an angry glare.
“My name is Tiffany. This is my sister Marigold. Please join us.” He sat down and gave my sister a charming smile. He is up to no good. It is OK. I will make him run away. I sit here listening to his pathetic attempts to charm her. It is unfortunately working. My sister gets up to use the restroom and I glare at him.
“I get the impression you don’t like me much,” he said while raising an eyebrow.
“I guess not,” I snapped while folding my arms in front of my chest. We had a brief staring contest.
“Why don’t you like me?” He eventually asked.
I wanted to tell him he is dangerous, and my sister doesn't need to get wrapped up in his world. With his kind of people. I can't say that out loud though. I was lucky because my sister returned. I didn't have to come up with some excuse. Liam and Tiffany spend most of the time talking. Tiffany couldn't stop blushing. It was the worst ice cream experience I have ever had.
