Chapter Two

1156 Words
Elizabeth POV: I step out of my car and look around the parking lot. I spot Justin's Jeep Gladiator across the parking lot. It is only us here and a few other teachers' cars. Our school was a private school for werewolves, it was built by werewolves too.We did have some humans that went here, but they were special cases that knew about us. Usually it was a parent or something that was mated to a werewolf that asked if they could enroll. I look around but Justin is nowhere to be seen. I stand and wait quietly for a few more minutes. I noticed when Justin’s jeep started shaking. I walked over to it feeling silly, he was probably sitting in the car waiting for me this whole time. I get to the car and open the driver door to find no one sitting there. Loud moaning is coming from the back seat and I get a bad feeling in my gut. I yank open the back door to see Vivian, a girl from my cheer squad who was always trying to take my place, naked. She was seated on someone’s lap. When she saw me she froze, then a slight smile came to her face. Vivian flipped her hair back to reveal Justin’s face, his teeth just leaving her neck as a small trail of blood ran down. I struggled to find words to say to them, I was in shock. I shut the door and walked away from the truck. I was halfway across the parking lot when Justin called out my name. I didn’t look back, I continued to walk. I felt an arm reach out and spin me around. Justin was looking down at me with sad eyes. I was instantly pissed off, how dare he look at me with such pity in his eyes. “Lizzy…” Justin started with the pet name. Before I knew it my hand smacked him across the face with such force it made my hand hurt. It left a red mark that I will admit gave me a little satisfaction. “Don’t you dare Lizzy me…how could you Justin?!” Justin stood up straight and his face went a little cold and his eyes hardened on me. “ How dare you smack me! You know what, it doesn't even hurt. Elizabeth, Vivian is my mate. As you could see back there, we are already mated and marked. You should be happy for me. I’m guessing from that smack that you had forgotten our pact we had made. The one where we said that if, by chance, we weren’t each other's mates, that it would be a mutual breakup. The other would hold no hard feelings. Then again, I guess that is what you had expected if you found your mate before me.” “Oh, don’t give me that crap Justin. I would expect it either way. Yes I remember the pact we made. I don’t remember the part where it said to be happy to find the other in the act of mating. You could have at least called me first. You could have said you found her. Even a damn text of warning not to come to your car or did you forget the plan we made to meet here? It had to be Vivian of all the possible candidates. You know what a pain she has been to me, the moon goddess must be mad at me. Do have any idea how this will make me look!” I say looking towards the sky distraught. “Oh, for the love of goddess! Everything is all about you, all the time, you are so self absorbed. You know what, it doesn’t matter to you does it. You never even cared about me. You dated me because I’m captain of the football team. Good luck finding your mate Elizabeth. I wish you luck, please leave me alone from now on. Don’t mess with Vivian either, or you’ll be sorry.” Justin says, as he turns to find Vivian taking his hand. “So sorry it happened this way Elizabeth, I do hope you're able to move on.” Vivian said with a fake smile as they walked past me, hand in hand, towards the school doors. Everyone was starting to arrive now. The couple of buses we had were arriving, and other students were pulling into the parking lot. I pull myself back together “You’re okay, it is fine.Justin is not your mate, and that is okay. This is still going to be a great week.” I say quietly to myself.I breathe in and breathe out a few times. I counted to ten and put my game face back on.The school would be buzzing with the news of this before the end of our first class. “HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!!” I hear two voices shout. I spin around and see my two besties, Gretchen and Katherine with balloons and two gift bags. “Oh My goddess, thank you!” I say as I hug them. “Where is Justin?” Katherine says “Don’t get me started!” I say as I proceed to tell them what happened. “Justin was lame anyway. He wasn’t very thoughtful and was only a football captain because his dad is friends with the coach.” Gretchen said. “True!” I laughed and we all walked into the school. “Here we got you something.” They both handed me the little gift bags they were carrying. I opened Gretchen's present first to reveal a beautiful diamond bracelet. “It’s beautiful, thank you Gretch!” I say hugging her. “Me next!” Katherine says. I open hers to see a beautiful diamond choker. I blink away tears “It’s beautiful!” I say and hug her too. “We figured it would match perfectly to that baby blue dress you have for the party on Friday.” They’re right,my mom took me to our seamstress months ago. Our seamstress, Miss. Fidden, I know, that is her actual name though, made me heaven in the form of a dress. My dress was an A-line/ princess chiffon ruched off the shoulder floor length dress. I looked like a brunette Cinderella in it. “Thank you guys, it will go perfect with it.” I say as the first bell chimes to start everyone heading toward their classes. “Okay I’ll see you two later, I’m going to go run these to my car before class.” I say as we put our hands together and jingle our matching friendship charm bracelets. It is like our version of a secret handshake. “Okay see you later Beth!” They say as they head towards class. My friends and I often shortened each other's names. I love those two, they were going to be my sisters for life.
