Chapter six : Axel

423 Words
I stopped dead in my tracks when My eyes fell on my mum's bestfriends daughter. She was staring back at me with wide eyes and my heart did a double flip. I walked up to my mum's best friend with a certain calmness so as not to give myself away. "Good day Auntie" I said. Then turning towards her, I said "Nice to meet you again, I'm Axel. Whats your name?". " Lexi. Thanks for helping me out last time" she responded. In the corners of my eyes, I saw my mum and aunt exchange glances. It was so obvious they were trying to play match maker. Aunt beckoned me to sit beside her and took my hand. She started talking, going on and on about how she had seen me as an ingant and I had grown up soo much. My mum sat with Lexi, hand in hand when Lexi started trembling. At first it was slight but I noticed it and so did my mum. She looked at her with concern and asked if she was alright and she nodded. After a few minutes, she stated shaking terribly. My mum held her in her arms while hers tried calming her down with music but none worked. Then she fell to the ground shaking furiously. Everyone was doing their best to help but I was too stunded to move. After what seemed like a while, she stopped shaking and got up opening her eyes. In the dimly lit room, her eyes glowed and we were all stunned. It was a bright purple glow that illuminated the room. "Lexi" her mums stunned voice came through breaking the silence and then, she passed out. "That glow.." I started, looking at my mum. "I she a supernatural?" I asked. The two adults looked at each other then in synchronim, they nodded. I looked down at Lexi laying there and without another word, I lifted her up. Auntie led the way to her home and I followed. I set Lexi down on the bed and bid Aunt goodbye. My mum followed behind me. At home, she explained that Lexi's mum lost her powers just like her during the battle and that they were a duo. Lexi's father, however was killed and so she had no other choice but to let Lexi live in the human world. I sat down and processed everything. I resolved to one conclusion, It was not my burden to carry and so I bid my mum goodbye and left like I arranged.
