“ Have Dante asked for something or did he accept your offer?” She asked.
“ No”she said, immediately her face dropped “ but I promise we are going to get him out of there” he said. He stared at her blue eyes, they were tearful.
“ Did he ask for something else or does he want to kill him” she asked weakly tears rolling down her eyes.
“ No, he's not going to die.” He said hugging her.
Roland came inside the room and stared at Anthony.
“ we need to talk”He said with a voice of urgency.” Now! Privately” he added.
“ what happened? Is father dead?” Kate asked fearfully, panicking.
“ No he's alive. I just need to tell Anthony something important “Roland answered codly.
“Is it about Dad? Tell me also” Kate pushed further
“Is not about Dad, It's about the mafia” Roland said with a sharp tune.
“You always cut me out of the family business and it's not fair” Kate said
“ Really? You think we are keeping you away from the family business?what the hell is wrong with you?! Can't you see, we are trying to protect you. You don't need to know anything”Roland said clearly annoyed.
“ but…”Kate began
“ Anthony!”Roland shouted before she could say anything further.
“I will be back”. He said patting her back.
Anthony left the room following Roland behind.
“Roland I don't like what you did in the room why were you shouting at Kate, she needs us now than ever!”he said trying to make him see reasons with him.
“Look I get it you love our sister that's so nice I really appreciate it but this is not the time okay we have more pressing matters at hand”
“ What could be more important than our sister “Anthony asked.
“ Dante! Dante right now is more important than our sister. He has given us a three days ultimatum or father will be dead.”Roland finally said.
“ What? Is that jerk being serious right now”
“ He is”
“ what do we do?”Anthony asked clearly confused. He walked around hastily.
“ Tell Kate. Let's hear what she have to say” Roland answered. “I mean that is clearly the only way out and besides Kate will definitely give in she would do anything to save our father”
“And if she says No?”
“ Then prepare to be the next Don, although I can bet that she would agree,father is her favorite” he said holding his hands.
”look its going to be okay”he said reassuring Anthony heaved a sigh.
“When do we tell her”he finally asked he could not imagine his sister leaving with Dante.
“ Now, we have no time left” he said and dailed Kate's number.
Katherine came in few minutes later.
“ you called me Anthony? She said ignoring Roland.
“We need to talk”Roland answered.
“Okay,I am suddenly important” she said sitting down. Roland rolled his eyes.
“ Dante has finally stated what he wants from us”Anthony said
“ what did he say? Is it something we have or can give is it money, business, alliance. What?” she asked eagerly.Anthony kept quiet for a while, he looked at Roland and he gave him a nod.
“He wants you”Anthony finally said.
There was silence for a while.
“He wants me? Like me? As a what? As a slave or part of his mafia”
“ As his wife”Roland added.
“As his wife? Wait he wants to get married to me. The man does not even know me?”
“ That's not the worst part. He gave us just three days to decide, with today almost gone we have just 2 days left”Roland said
“so you need to decide fast” he said standing up “And also if you peradventuraly say No he said he will come for us after killing father and you and I know very well that we can't defeat him” he said and left, he was clearly not ready for her drama.
“Pls tell me is not true” she said turning to Anthony shaking her head.
“I can't get married to him, he's a monster!Anthony please do something”
She pleaded with Anthony, tears rolling down her eyes.she could not believe what was happening to her.
“I wish I had a choice” Anthony said hugging her.wrote. cried on Anthony's arms for about an hour. Anthony kept consoling her, there was nothing he could do.
She sniffed finally sat up and cleaned her tears.
“ Fine! He wants to get married to me right? Fine then I will do it but he I want to see him, first” she said.
“Look, Kate you don't have to rush we are talking about your life and…
“Anthony enough!” She shouted.
“Do you have any other options” she asked harshly..
“No but that doesn't mean you are going to rush into taking a life changing decision” he said softly
“The moment father got kidn*pped, our life's changed. My marriage to Dante doesn't matter. I will do anything to bring father back” she said and left.
Anthony text Roland.”she has agreed”
The next morning
Kate hurriedly packed her luggage and rolled it toward Anthony room.
“Is he still asleep?” She asked the guard at the door.
“Yes ma'm’the guard nodded.
“Okay, when he wakes up tell Anthony I am on my way to Italy or better still I will text him my location”she said and walked away.
“Were are you going to?”Anthony asked opening the door.
“Italy”Kate answered confidently.
“Wait, what?Italy? To see who”Anthony asked.
“Dante who else?” she said rolling her lauggage.
“Wait. Kate I said wait”Anthony said holding her arm.She removed his hands from her.
“let go off me! Look,I am going off to Italy and there is nothing you can do about it”Kate answered pointing her index finger at Anthony.
“Kate wait I am talking to you”Anthony said following Kate as she rolled her laugage down the stairs.
“Kate I am talking to you!”
“What's up with the noise this early morning”Roland shouted from the lawn
“Kate wants to go to Italy”Anthony answered still running after kate
“What. Kate wait”Anthony shouted
“Kate Anthony is taking to you!”Roland shouted
“ And I don't care”she answered him
“Kate listen to him”Roland said more of a warning
“No, not today!He wants me right, let he have me”She said facing Roland and continued
“Kate!”Roland shouted for the last time
Roland pulled his gun from his back pocket and pulled the trigger towards Kate.
