I looked at Callista, who was beaming with excitement, then glanced at Kaelos, who looked resigned. But then, out of nowhere, I burst out laughing—a loud, genuine laugh that left the two Nightveil siblings looking confused.
"Oh my God, Callista!" I said between laughs. "You think we're... dating?"
Callista nodded enthusiastically. "Well, yeah! It's so obvious!"
I shook my head, still smiling widely. "Callista, sweetie, you've got it all wrong. We're not dating!"
Kaelos, who had looked like he was about to admit everything, quickly caught on to my act. He nodded and smiled, confirming my words.
