KAELOS'S POV
I had just closed the front door after a long afternoon jog, still sweaty and breathing heavily, when I heard footsteps on the stairs. Two pairs of footsteps, walking side by side.
I stopped in the middle of the living room, staring up at the stairs in confusion. For the past week, Callista had always made sure she wasn't in the same room as us. And now...
"Kaelos?"
Seraphina's voice. But there was something different about her tone—lighter, happier?
"Yeah, I'm here," I replied, still staring at the stairs.
And then I saw them. Seraphina and Callista, walking down the stairs side by side, their hands intertwined, with smiles on their faces. Genuine smiles. Smiles I hadn't seen in a long time.
My heart stopped for a moment.
"Oh my Goddess," I whispered
