CHAPTER FOUR
Damien
I couldn’t believe my eyes when I saw the men alpha torr bought to the battlefield.
They were small in number – weak, in fact is what I would call them.
None of them could probably even carry their armors well.
Alpha torr, had the nerve to downgrade me by bringing weak soldiers to the battle.
All of them were omegas, except for one of the them, who happened to be an alpha.
Based on her stamina and the strength of her fists, I am sure she hadn’t lifted anything her whole
life.
she and her twin were putting on gowns that hung perfectly on their body. Their choice of clothes was crazy.
They were literally dressed as if they were going to a party - except that now, they were in my territory, because I shall be the one in control.
I know what Torr was trying to do:to have me sympathize with them so I would hesitate to attack.
But I have outgrown all his little tricks
Truth be told, it isn’t like he was stronger than me. What he had was his intellect.
He was as cunny as a fox.
I watched his men fall one after another. They were like prey- easy to kill, easy to manipulate.
“I am already bored” Lucian said beside me
When I glanced at him, he was leaning against a tree, watching the battle as if it were a play, meanwhile, my sword cut through torr’s soldiers one after another.
Even though he was one of my men, he did whatever he wished.
And, I do not get crazy about his disobedience, he was the only one I can’t ever get angry with, no matter how much he disobeys me.
he had always been my soldier, - practically, we grew together.
“You will leave this minion for me to deal with?” I asked
Lucien only shrugged.
There was no concern in his face – only boredom, as if this entire battle meant nothing to him.
His face expression – cold as if he was a statue with no emotion
“yes” he replied, while resting his back on the tree.
The other men were fighting too but something caught my attention. One of them seemed different from the rest, as if she had more depth than the others.
I decided to deal with them myself.
One of them resisted, while the other- stronger one – refused to back down no matter what.
My sword moved swiftly.
It pierced the heart of the sister wearing blue. I pushed the blade deeper before pulling it out again.
Blood rushed from the wound I had just created.
Lucien cheered on me but I only shrugged back at him.
I am not ready to play his little games.
Battlefield was not meant for play; my father always told me that when I was young and I carried those words deep in my heart.
The wolf will and the wolf crest have always been at war.
It has always been wolves trying to take over each other’s lands.
When torr declared war, I thought it was time to seize the opportunity.Clearly, I was the stronger one.
The other sister has been watching the entire time. When my blade pierced her sister’s heart, color drained from her face, her eyes widened in horror, as if she couldn’t believe what she had just seen.
She rushed forward immediately and fell beside her sister, pulling the lifeless body into her arms.
There was no remorse in my heart towards her. Only a reminder that whoever crossed the line would be dealt with.
Besides, this was the battlefield. It was no place for family reunion.
She stood up immediately, her spirit suddenly lifted.
Lucien cheered again as he watched her, as if hailing her to continue with whatever she was doing.
“The little lamb is hurt” he said “ Be careful” he said “she might injure you this time” he laughed, a hint of cruelty in his tone.
I looked at him immediately, and he quickly shut his mouth. He knew better than to speak, not even him was excluded from my sword.
“You!” I heard an angry roar from behind, coming from the girl in green gown. There was anger in her eyes, like that of a wolf ready to strike.
Her hair was already in a messy bun, her hands held unto her sword dearly. As if she let them go it would break her.
she lunged at me with full force, targeting to hit at my stomach. But I was faster than she could ever think.
My sword moved quickly before me. It never for once miss my target.
And again. This time around, it had done the same.
My blade lunged at her heart.
The sword in her hands slipped from her grip. sweat spread across her skin and blood rushed out of her body.
Her piercing blue eyes looked straight at me.
Then, I saw it .
Sadness.
It spread across her face like a sudden storm.
For 10 years of fighting, I had never seen anything like it.
She reached out with her hand, as if touching me had been her goal the whole time. The moment her fingers brushed against me, her expression softened- almost peaceful, as if she had finally accomplished what she wanted.
“Oh no” Lucien said quietly “she’d dead”
That was when it truly sank in.
I had killed her.
She was beautiful, even in death.
I tried to ignore the strange feeling rising in my chest, like I always did. But her face kept appearing in my mind.
“there was something mischievous about her” Lucien mattered.
I could have sworn that I wasn’t the only one who thought that.
There was something about her – something difficult to resist.
May be in another life, I might have asked her name.
Certainly not this one.
It was impossible now.
She was dead.
Gone.
I made sure the battlefield was completely cleared before turning to leave.
Just like my father used to say:
“Never leave any stone unturned”
Before leaving, waited a little longer, scanning the area carefully.
You can never trust a fox you know.
After hours of silence. I finally turned and walked away.
