Chapter 17Adin Liam and his forces fled the elven castle after slicing through Auberi. It was eerie how things moved to a new normal. Auberi was still king, though in name only. The castle smelled of blood. Tael and Adin had spent days holed up in Auberi’s room. Saps, potions, and bandages littered the room. The sword had missed vital organs, but the sword was laced with poison. The king had yet to wake. His veins had changed color. No one was sure how to reverse the effects. “Will you take the throne?” Adin asked Tael. “It is what’s expected,” Tael responded, fidgeting. Tael looked exhausted.
