“Only from the article in the Toronto Star.” “When did you read it?” “I don’t know. Eight days ago, I think.” “You think, or you’re sure?” He raised his hand like he was going to grab Gershwin’s face again, but when Gershwin backed away, he replaced his hand on his leg. “Yes. Eight days ago. I was on a plane to London.” He was whispering rapidly. “What a nice life you’ve been leading.
