He fell asleep at two a.m. and dreamed he was rescuing a baby girl from a burning building and that when he handed her to her father, her father looked at him with tears in his eyes and said, “You’re a saint.” At nine a.m. his alarm went off and he went to the Y for a run, showering and shaving in the men’s change room before returning home to do essentially nothing—watching television, reading a newspaper, reorganizing drawers and cupboards that didn’t need to be organized. YAt three p.m. he shaved again, though it wasn’t necessary, put on his tuxedo and called a taxi to take him to his wedding. * * * St. Mark’s Church was Lilly’s choice. When she was a child, she attended a wedding there and what she saw resembled the happy ending of a fairy tale.
