Chapter Nine
The next few months went well. We acquired a few new clients, some of which were women. I should explain something about the colonies. On most colonies there was an atmosphere that tended to tell the average observer that what they were looking at was a male dominated society. They would have been wrong.
In the central planets that was the case. It had not changed for the last 400 years. A man’s wife may be his partner in his business, but the partnership was not equal by any stretch of the imagination. The wife was expected to be a “silent” partner. If she had anything to say in regard to her husband’s business, she was expected to wait until they were at home and they could discuss the matter privately.
