Asher’s POV I stared doubtfully at the emotionless man, but he was giving nothing away. "He knows," he repeated, falling silent again. Just when I thought he wouldn't say anything more, he added, "I don't know what his plans are, but I have a feeling they involve me—especially after that insult." The way he spat the word "insult" showed he was still reeling from it. I understood that all too well. "Even if that's true, Adam, I still can't tell you what he gave me," I said. "There’s a reason he gave it to me privately, and he hasn't authorized me to show you. I hope you understand." After a moment, he nodded. "It's your turn with Quinn next," he said. "Are you going to... you know?" He cut himself off abruptly. I sighed and walked toward the office in my quarters, sitting down heavily.
