Chapter 14
Mia’s POV
I watched Sophia from across the cafeteria, my fingers tightening around my fork. That smug little b***h was at it again leaning into Lucian, laughing too loudly, touching his arm like she had any right to him. She thought she could steal him from me just because she had history with him? Pathetic.
Lily was sitting alone at her usual corner table, looking broken and weak as always. Good. At least one of them was suffering. But Sophia… she was becoming a real problem. I needed her gone.
The plan had been forming in my mind for days. It was simple, clean, and effective. I had overheard some seniors talking about a guy who sold “party favors.” A few discreet conversations, some money exchanged, and I had what I needed a small packet of pills that would cause enough trouble without being immediately deadly. Just enough to get her in serious trouble with the school.
I waited for the perfect moment. During gym class, when everyone was changing, I slipped into the girls’ locker room. Sophia’s bag was easy to find designer, of course. I opened it quickly, tucked the small packet deep inside one of the side pockets, and left everything looking untouched. My heart was racing, but my hands were steady. I had done worse things to Lily over the years. This was nothing.
The next day, the school was buzzing. Someone had “found” the substances in Sophia’s bag during a random locker check. The administration moved fast zero tolerance policy. Sophia was called to the principal’s office and didn’t return to class. By the end of the day, the rumor was everywhere: she was being transferred to another school immediately. Her parents were furious. Her reputation was ruined.
I smiled to myself as I walked home with my head held high. One down.
Lucian was mine again. No more competition from that snake. Lily was still suffering. Everything was falling into place perfectly.
That evening at dinner, I was in a genuinely good mood. Mom noticed and commented on how happy I seemed lately. I just smiled sweetly and glanced at Lily across the table. She looked pale and tired. Perfect.
Later that night, in our room, I couldn’t resist.
“You heard about Sophia, right?” I asked casually, lying on my bed.
Lily didn’t respond.
I laughed softly. “She’s gone. Transferred. Just like that. No more flirting with my Lucian. I told you I’d handle it.”
I turned off the light, feeling satisfied. The game was swinging back in my favor. Lily thought she could have him? Sophia thought she could take him? They were both wrong.
Lucian is MINE……
Lily’s POV
The news spread through school like wildfire the next morning. Sophia had been transferred. Permanently.
I heard the whispers in the hallways before I even reached my locker. “They found drugs in her bag.” “Zero tolerance.” “Her parents pulled her out immediately.” Students were buzzing with excitement and gossip. Sophia the beautiful, confident girl who had made my life miserable alongside Mia was gone.
I should have felt relieved. One less person making my days hell. But something felt wrong. Too convenient. Too perfectly timed.
I sat through my morning classes in a daze, my mind replaying everything. The way Mia had suddenly become “friends” with Sophia. The way she had cornered me by the oak tree, talking about a plan to make Sophia disappear. The cold satisfaction in her eyes when she walked away.
By lunch, I couldn’t ignore it anymore. I found a quiet corner in the library and pulled out my phone. My fingers trembled as I typed a message to one of the girls in Sophia’s old circle someone who had been nice to me once.
Did they really find stuff in her bag?
The reply came faster than I expected:
Yeah. Hidden in her gym bag. She swears she didn’t put it there. But no one believes her.
My stomach dropped. I knew. Deep down, I knew it was Mia.
My twin sister had planted those substances. She had ruined Sophia’s life just to get her away from Lucian. And she had done it so cleanly that no one would ever suspect her.
I felt sick.
The rest of the day passed in slow motion. I avoided everyone especially Lucian, who was sitting alone now that Sophia was gone. He looked lost. Part of me wanted to go to him, to tell him what I suspected but Mia is still my sister and very dangerous.
The fear held me back. If Mia could do this to Sophia, what would she do to me if she knew I was talking to him again?
After school, I went straight to the old oak tree. It was my only safe place. I sat against the trunk, hugging my knees, and let the tears fall. How had my life become this? My own sister my blood was willing to destroy people just to control who Lucian was with. And I was caught in the middle, too scared to fight back properly.
I remembered all the times Mia had been kind in front of our parents. The fake smiles. The way she had approached me recently, trying to pull me into her plans. She had wanted me to help her get rid of Sophia. When I refused, she did it anyway.
She was a snake. Just like she had always been with me.
My phone buzzed. A text from an unknown number.
You’re next if you don’t stay away from him.
I deleted it immediately, my hands shaking. Mia. It had to be her.
That evening at home, dinner was torture. Mom and Dad chatted happily, completely unaware of the war happening between their daughters. Mia sat across from me, looking radiant and innocent. She even passed me the rice with a sweet smile.
“How was your day, Lily?” she asked, her voice dripping with fake concern.
I stared at her, my appetite gone. “You did it, didn’t you?” I whispered when our parents weren’t looking. “The stuff in Sophia’s bag. It was you.”
For a split second, something dark flashed in Mia’s eyes. Then she smiled again. “I don’t know what you’re talking about, sis. But if someone finally got rid of that annoying girl… I’m glad.”
She knew I knew. And she didn’t even care.
I excused myself early and went to our room. I lay on my bed, staring at the ceiling, tears slipping down my cheeks. I missed Lucian so much it hurt. I wished I hadn’t ignored him. I wished I could tell him the truth about Mia. But I was terrified. Terrified of what my sister would do next.
Mia came in later. She didn’t say anything at first. She just changed into her pajamas and climbed into her bed. Before she turned off the light, she spoke softly into the darkness.
“You should be thanking me, Lily. I removed one obstacle for you. Now it’s just you and me again. And Lucian.”
Isn’t it great sis,she look at me and smiled slowly.
Her words and the slow dangerous smile sent chills down my spine.
I didn’t sleep that night. I kept thinking about how far Mia was willing to go. She had destroyed Sophia without hesitation. What would she do to me if I tried to get close to Lucian again?
The next morning, I walked to school with a heavy heart. Lucian was at the gate, talking to some friends. Our eyes met for a moment. He looked like he wanted to come over, but he stayed where he was.
The distance between us felt wider than ever.
I was living with a monster who shared my face. And I didn’t know how to escape her.
Mia….
