Chapter Two

ANDREW’S POV My head was still throbbing from all the drinks I had yesterday. I didn’t even remember what happened after getting to the pub but I knew that I ended up in bed with this tiny girl. The money and shoes were the best thing I could give to her. The last thing I wanted with such a girl was communication. She looked like a leech already. I could tell what kind of shoes she liked from the way her feet were. Soft and smooth. Thankfully, she didn’t even stir when I was getting dressed. I had dropped the knife right beside her so that she could figure herself out. From time to time, I could still feel her soft skin against my face. I could still smell her scent. But that would be over in a few days. I couldn’t let myself be distracted. “Where are you coming from?” Dante, my twin brother and the Beta of the pack asked, as he watched me sipping my black coffee. I rubbed my throbbing head. “Just some pack business,” I said. He chuckled before sitting down. “Of course… some pack business with a girl,” he said. He was the funny and jovial one between the both of us. And just as anyone might guess, he was a pain in the ass. “So you knew already,” I said, not wanting any more chit chats with him. “Yes,” he said, understanding my mood before setting down a pile of documents in front of me. “We just received the documents for the contract with Twilight pack,” he said, trying to maintain his smile. “Nice,” I said, aching for more coffee. “Are you kidding me? You’ve been wanting this contract for a life time. You’ve finally got it and you’re acting so casual about it? We have to celebrate.” “Fine,” I said without thinking twice. He clapped his hands like a little girl. I gave him the responsibility to handle the party. He agreed immediately. “What party?” our mom asked, standing by the door. She had eye sacks on her face. She definitely didn’t go to sleep because she didn’t see me last night. “We just got a new contract. The one that Andy has been trying to get all month. So we have to celebrate.” Dante said. My mom smiled at how excited he was, about the whole thing. “There’s something else, Andrew,” my mom said, wiping the smile away from her face. I knew what was coming next. I balled my hands into fists underneath the table to avoid saying anything. “What is it?” Dante asked on my behalf. “Your grandfather. He wants you to finally get a mate. Soon, the whole pack will start to disrespect you. That’s the only thing that he has asked you for all this while right?” It made me chuckle a bit. “And the chocolate fountain that he asked in his room?” I asked, making my mom laugh. “Seems like he has asked for so many other things that we cannot even remember.” “But this is the most important one. And I will make sure to tell him not to ask for anything else.” “I can't grant his wish now,” I deadpanned. “There are so many things that have to be done in the pack. It would take at least five years to get those things done.” “Five years?” she screamed. “You know that your grandfather has issues with his health.” “And there’s someone taking care of him right?” I asked and Mom nodded. “You have to see her at least once. She has been doing her best at keeping your grandfather alive. I don’t think there’s anyone that can do that better than her at this point.” “Dante can see her,” I said, pulling my laptop to myself as I scanned through a few documents. “You have to see her, Andrew. Now.” The urgency in her voice made me stand up. “Fine,” I said, finally heading out of the room. I could feel Dante snickering behind me. It took all the patience not to turn back and punch him in the nose. That was all they knew how to do. Distract me, and still expect work to get done. I finally went through the stairs, and turned the door knob. There was a familiar scent in the air. “Mate!” my wolf, Finn growled. It wasn’t possible. I walked in, taking my grandfather’s figure sitting gingerly on the bed, sipping soup with some kind of energy I’ve never seen in him. He never seemed to take his eyes off the girl that was feeding him. “Andrew,” he called out when he finally saw me. “You finally came to meet me.” I tried not to roll my eyes as I sat down beside him. The girl finally turned, seizing my breath immediately. It was the girl from last night. I could never forget her brown shiny hair. Her full pink lips that always seemed puckered. Or her eyes that looked sad. If I had looked closely, I would have seen the love bites that were there on her neck. She looked at me blankly. Like she didn’t recognize me. It wouldn’t be long before she found out anyway. But there was one thing that almost made me kill her on the spot. Whose father she was. I could never fall in love or marry somebody like her. She was still staring at me blankly. “Welcome, Your Highness,” she said softly. I couldn’t bring myself to answer her. I headed out of the room in anger and Dante was by my side immediately. “What happened?” “Why didn’t you tell me she was Cordelia?” I asked him. He looked shocked that I even knew her name. “She’s the one.” I finally told him and he understood everything. I couldn’t even tell him that she was my fated mate. And my second chance. Thankfully, there was a party in the evening. I would clarify everything then. And she would get the punishment she finally deserves.
