Chapter four

CORDELIA’S POV I felt my heart being pierced into a thousand and one pieces. My eyes teared up, but I managed to keep my head up. I looked in the crowd, looking for my mom and brother. They were nowhere to be found. “I, Cordelia Jorgenson, one of the Omegas of Black Pearl pack, accepts your rejection.” A smug smile appeared at the corner of his lips. “This is just the beginning, Cordelia,” he said before I collapsed to the floor. The constant beeping of the machines around me was enough to wake me up. My best friend was right beside me. How come I didn’t see her during the party? “What happened to me?” I asked Ariana, taking in the white walls of the hospital. “You collapsed,” she said, looking at me with a judgmental eye. “What did the doctor say?” As if on cue, the doctor walked right in with a small V on her forehead. “Where is mom?” I asked Ariana, trying to look around the room. “She refused to come,” she whispered. I swallowed hard, trying not to cry. She held on to my hands as the doctor consulted her notes. “You’re pregnant, Cordelia,” she deadpanned. I gasped. What did she mean? “How?” Ariana helped me ask. Then she looked back to me. “Is there something you aren’t telling me? Did you get pregnant for Daniel? Should I call him to take his responsibilities on the baby?” Her voice sounded muffled in my head. There was no way I was going to raise a baby without a father. It always had a bad effect on the child. I was a living testimony. My mind immediately wandered to the man that gave me those shoes and money. “Daniel isn’t the father,” I managed to say. I gripped to the hospital bed and got up, trying to get rid of the dizziness. The doctor left the room and so did I. As soon as I exited the hospital with Ariana right beside me, a few guards came right in front of us. “And who are you guys?” Ariana questioned immediately. “We are the guards from the palace,” they said with a frown on their face. “The Alpha has ordered us to show Ariana out of the pack.” I couldn’t even move anymore. Every single bad thing was hitting me all at once. How was I going to survive? “I would like to pick a few things from my house,” I begged while Ariana just stared out of shock. “The Alpha said you should move out immediately,” the tougher guard said. The milder one looked at me with pity. “Sure,” he said. “You can get a few things. Strictly under supervision.” I nodded, and let him grab my hand, as I led them to my house. I could feel my mom and brother’s movement around the house but I couldn’t see them. I was sure that they were looking at me from somewhere. I was hurt that they were running away when they were supposed to be standing by my side. The story that I was pregnant as well was going to spread like wild fire. I picked the money that I had shoved in Brian’s hand earlier. I caught a glimpse of myself in the mirror. My mascara was running down the sides of my face. I sniffled and headed to the room, unable to feel anything. I packed a few clothes and food. I was sure my mom wouldn’t mind. After I finished, the guards led me out of the house, each of them holding each of my hands in an almost rough manner. They finally got the pack gates before finally pushing me out. I looked back one more time. I could see a few pack members stealing glances from their windows. I saw the curtains twitch and I heard the whispers. I hadn’t even gone far when I saw a brown werewolf in a distance. Her green eyes were stuck on mine and I shivered. It was the first time that I was going outside the pack without any company. She transformed to her human form almost immediately. I took in her red hair and green dress. “Who are you?” she asked. “Cordelia,” I answered. “Omega of Black Pearl pack.” Her eyes lightened up immediately. “Jake Jorgenson’s daughter?” I nodded almost immediately. “Come with me,” she beckoned. I didn’t want to move. I knew I couldn’t trust anybody. But how did she know my father’s name? That was something to question. I found my knees moving towards her. She put her hands over my shoulder and made me explain everything that happened. She looked genuinely sorry for me. “They would never understand how kind your father was,” she said, telling me about how my father had saved the Alpha of her pack- who was also her husband. she also told me how my father put an end to the rivalry between countless packs. How he helped form alliances. I looked back into the darkness, wishing that Andrew heard everything that she was saying. “I don’t even know your name,” I said after a while. “Lisa,” she said with a smile. “Luna of Green Embers pack.” She finally stopped in front of a huge gate with the name of their pack engraved on it. “Welcome to Green Embers, darling. We will take care of you until you want to leave.” I nodded and found myself following her inside as guards bent down in front of her. With a wave of her finger, they were out of her sight. “Now, let’s go and meet the Alpha.” I nodded and followed, her with my bag firmly in my hands. I noticed all the people that were string at us, obviously wondering who the new girl was. I tried not to give them any importance. I was only sure of three things. I was going to return to the palace. I was going to prove my father’s innocence. And I was going to find the father of my baby.
