Chapter Three

1262 Words
Lily’s POV The day moved unusually fast, before I could even realize it. It felt like time wasn’t showing any mercy, of course time waits for no one. I stayed as the maids carefully, helped me with each piece of the white glittering silk dress with laces and crystals, the dress was indeed a masterpiece to behold, and both the jewelry and the silver shoe with some diamond petals both complement the dress. Each time a tear rolled down my cheek, the maids would quickly wipe it off, care to add more foundation, so as not to ruin the entire makeup, but neither did they know that no amount of foundation, power, or lipstick could hide the burden in my heart. I decided to raise my eyes to stop the tears from rolling down again. The maids gathered my hair into a graceful low chignon, leaving a few curls to frame my face, with sparkling small pearls and diamond pins around the bun and a crystal comb above the bun letting a long cathedral Vail drop down my back. The woman in the mirror was absolutely stunning, to others should would be called the perfect bride, but to her, she is in a cage. I ran my hand through my collarbone, and had a little smirk on my lower lip. “ I wish I had a choice…” A soft knock echoed… “ Lily….?”, Tessa called as she walked into the room “Wow”, with her eyes wide open “You look so…. Beautiful” “How could the cloth fit you so well, as though he knew your measurements… such a sweet man.” She said giggling. “ I feel am walking into a prison Tessa”. “ I have told you Lily, that you shouldn’t think too much about this”, she said looking at me “You know Tessa, every girl's dream is to walk the aisle on her white perfect wedding dress, with a big smile on her face, and with someone she loves that she’s going to spend the rest of her life with”. “You don’t need to tell me that it’s going to be fine Tessa, that isn’t what I need to hear right now, cause I know it won’t be” “You’re just saying all this because you think it would make me feel better, but it doesn’t.. Tessa”. “ I just wish I could run now…” I whispered, lowering my head as sadness filled the entire room. Ma’am, it’s time… As I heard this very statement from the maid, my intestines felt as though they were being twisted and I began to scratch my index finger with my thumb. Tessa could already notice my body movement. She took me by my hand and held my hand so tight, with a smile on her face. “You don’t need to worry… Lily, cause am always here for you” We held both our hands as we began to walk towards the door. As we got to the doorway, my mother came up to me to help me adjust my veil I immediately held her by her wrist. “Don’t make me do this, Mom… please”…. I said almost getting down on my knees Mother simply, shifted her gaze from mine as tears filled her eyes, her own words were now heavy for her to speak, and she couldn’t even look me in the eye anymore. “I’m truly sorry…dear” She left quickly with her hands shaking, as she was trying so hard to maintain composure. I turned back to look, as my mother walked past me…, I couldn’t even shade tears anymore, I would save it cause it would be more needed sooner. I scanned through the house, I couldn’t believe I had spent twenty years of my life with my parents and in this house, and I am about to leave here. “Lily…” Tessa called out “We are running late, and your dad should be waiting for you to walk you down the aisle” “Ohh could he not be the one to” “You know he has to lily”. ****************** Ethan’s POV My phone echoes through the conference, and immediately everyone stopped with their s**t chat. Without taking my gaze off the contract before me, I answered the call. “ Mr Lockwood” my assistant called, the package you sent has arrived”. “Well, good” “Get it to my office, in Ten Minutes” I said as I ended the call. The men sitting side by side on the long conference table, their eyes fixed on me. I occupied the seat at the head of the table. They all looked at each other and had an uneasy look on their faces. But they dare not interrupt me or make any kind of movement. I picked up my pen and flipped through the pages of the contract, until I reached the final page which required my signature for the billion-dollar Contract Agreement, and slid it across the table as one of the men near to be took the paper “Done”… I said as I stood up, dressing the hand of my suit as I walked out, and mark, my assistant came immediately opening the door for me, the entire conference still remained quiet, and the sound of my shoes could be heard. “Here, sir”, he handed me a brown envelope. I opened it “Sir this is the back…..” I raised my hand, and immediately he stopped talking, and we continued walking. I opened one after the other, and there was her picture attached to it. I handed it back to Mark. “Burn it” “But sir you haven’t seen them all” Mark said “I am no longer interested, I have gotten the information I need “ “ anything else” “Sir, the wedding is in an hour” “I’m aware” “And the helicopter is ready” I put one hand in my pocket, as I continue walking towards the roof of Lockwood Group headquarters where the helicopter was. As soon as I stepped outside, the blade of the helicopter sliced through the air, sending winds across the rooftop. One of the security guards opened the cabin door, as I stepped into the helicopter without saying a word and he closed the door against me. I took a look at my Rolex “Hope they don’t take my time” Not less than thirty minutes, the helicopter landed on a private pad beside the wedding venue. I stepped out as the door was opened for me. My white Rolls-Royce Phantom was already there waiting As the chauffeur saw me approaching the car, he stepped forward and opened the door. “Welcome, Mr Lockwood”. He said, as he took a bow. Entering the car, I adjusted the rear cuff of my suit, as we drove toward the short distance to the wedding entrance. As we got to the venue, the driver stopped and opened the door, and I came out walking to the entrance. Just keeping a straight face as I continue to walk towards the altar as all eyes fell on me. “This has to be the most expensive deal I’ve ever made “… I murmured to myself, a humorless smile tugging at the corner of my lips
