Shadow
Despite the seriousness of the conversation I was listening to, I couldn’t help the smile that flirted at the edges of my mouth. She’d quoted what I said in the underground. It seemed that we had more in common than I realized, though bonding over a mutual need to deal with chronic pain was hardly something to be happy about.
Nathaniel finished making Katie glow with white light, and at the end of it, she looked better. She seemed fuller in the face, and her skin was healthier.
Nathaniel turned to me and rubbed his hands together. “Your turn.”
