Chapter 7 Shadow As soon as I explained how important it was for us to leave, Katie withdrew into herself. She closed her eyes and curled up into a ball on the bed. I wasn’t sure what had distressed her so much. I leaned over the large bed and pressed a kiss to her forehead. Then I stood up and began to pace around the room, my mind a whirl.
