Chapter Fourteen
So went my new life shut away from the sun and yet occasionally bathed in the more invigorating, blazing radiance of the glorious Goddess Julia. The rhythm of her visits became my clock and my calendar, my only means to judge the passing of time.
The days I spent hanging in excruciation and sensory deprivation, my only entertainment – aside from the occasional groan or rattle of chains from another cell – that which my mind could provide. Once my brands healed up, I was no longer suspended at least, or not all the time and in the same fashion anyway.
