The rain had been falling since morning. It wasn’t a light drizzle either it was heavy, loud, and endless. The sky outside the penthouse was dark gray, and thunder rumbled now and then like a warning. Ann stood by the window, watching the water blur the city lights. It was one of those evenings where you just wanted to curl up with a blanket and a warm drink. She wrapped her arms around her belly and sighed. It had been a quiet day. Too quiet. Richard had canceled his meetings due to the storm. The roads were flooded, traffic was terrible, and the staff had already left for the day. The power had even flickered twice.
