EMILY'S POV
‘Pain was the first thing I registered’.
‘I am never going back to that God damn town "Beverly Hills”. Nothing is really encouraging. I usually fail in whatever I do ever since my father died’. I murmured to myself as I downed a glass of vodka at the rooftop bar in one of the hotels in the city of LA.
I winced slightly as it burnt its way down my throat.
I shouldn't be drinking, I should really really not be drinking.
I don't even have the head for alcohol but I just want to give it a try and forget about how bad my heart has been really aching due to the bad experience I have recently had.
My mum must be really mad at me, and my father in heaven will also be pissed-off. They both taught me and my siblings to really stay strong and hold our emotions regardless in all situations. I failed them at this moment. ‘Yes I know’.
Still……., the alcohol wasn't helping at all.
I have to get justice for my father who has been loyal to the mining company (Barrick Gold Mine Company) which was his place of work. He couldn't have really slipped off and died as they all have claimed. And at the same time, get something done to support my family and stop being humiliated by the people in my town, ‘Beverly Hills of course’.
How could they have done that to me, what went wrong? Of course, people show their true behavior when things are not going their way.
It was as if someone was repeatedly piercing my heart with a knife.
It was late at night and I couldn't go back to the town.
My eyes were blurred and I have double vision. It was the result of the alcohol I had drunk.
I had no other option than to book a room to pass the night before going back to the town the next day.
I had initially booked room ‘8069’.
I staggered along the corridor of the hotel, I patted my forehead seriously and my vision gradually blurred.
Walking into the elevator, I pressed the button for the 6th floor while still feeling dizzy, but I didn't expect to have accidentally pressed the 9th-floor button.
“The 9th floor of the hotel is for the VIPs only.
Once leaving the lift, I went straight into the room. Yet, I couldn't tell 9 and 6 apart clearly. In front of Room 8096, I entered and even amazed that the door was left open and not even locked.
Being weak, I laid on the bed and heard the tap running down from the inner bathroom. Who could have been in this room, I murmured. But I couldn't stand up because the alcohol I had taken initially was at work.
The room was not lit, but one could still vaguely see the luxurious furniture of the house, as well as the big king-sized bed. I was definitely in a presidential suite”.
I tugged at my clothes and I was completely naked…..
In the dim light, he emerged from the bathroom like something out of a fever dream. Water beaded right on his bare chest. His muscles moved through under his skin like they had a life of their own. I couldn't look away. I didn't want to, it was so enticing.
He said with a deep voice, who are you?... I wasn't expecting any. ‘You’re in the wrong room’.
He couldn't resist my body. He laid on me as, my clothes were also off my body…
I could have pushed him away, but I didn't and I had s*x with the man I don't know.
—------------------------------
‘The alarm sounded… It was 8am in the morning’.
Of course, I knew what I saw last night, it was a presidential suite. I had entered the wrong room.
I stood up immediately and I saw my clothes on the floor… ‘ Gosh, what have I done!!!’. I ran back into the bed to cover my body with the duviel.
The man I had a one night stand with has left, who was he?.
This is very hard for me, not at this time. How could I have explained to anyone that I had a one night stand with a man I don't even know.
While dressing up to leave the room, I saw a chain made of gold. It was a customized chain, ‘DEREK’.
And of course, who won't have known the CEO of Barrick Gold Mine Company… Derek Molson himself, very cold and ruthless. His actions really speak louder than his words.
In shocking disbelief, I had slept with my enemy, Derek Molson… The CEO of Barrick Gold Mine Company.
Why do I have a feeling that he knows about my father's death. My father had sacrificed his whole life and time to work for that silly company of his before it became what it is as of today.
I was completely in the wrong room, 8096 instead of 8069… drinking to stupor isn't a good thing as my eyes are full of regrets as I stepped out of the room.
I booked a taxi back to my town Beverly Hills.
The house was completely silent. Where could everyone have gone this early morning? I hope my brother, ‘Blackwood’ hasn't caused trouble somewhere around.
The door opened slowly, where are you coming from? Since yesterday, your number has been unreachable and everyone was worried… “You have a customer,” William said.
I had almost forgotten that I run a small mechanic shop my father ‘Zevian’ had taught me little about when he was still alive.
My facial expression showed the shattering moments I had last night and William couldn't resist but to ask.. WHAT HAPPENED?
Without hesitation, I answered him and said nothing.. ‘Fear gripped me as my secret is not to be exposed at all’.
I will join you outside shortly, I told him.
My phone beeped, and a shocking message displayed on the screen of my phone.
‘YOU'RE HIRED. YOU'RE NOW THE NEW SECRETARY OF BARRICK GOLD MINE COMPANY. REPORT TO THE MINE TOMORROW MORNING’.
Could this have been a mistake, I murmured within myself as I don't remember tendering any of my applications to any Gold Mine Company not to talk of Barrick Gold Mine Company… The one with the ruthless and cruel CEO!!!.
Could he have recognized me? How could he have known that I seriously need a job? Is this really true?... Questions raced through my mind. Could Derek really have recognized me yesterday?
I don't remember my father introducing me at his place of work.. Maybe.
While still staring at the message, I suddenly remembered that I have a customer waiting for me and the bathroom tap is still running.
Before I could reach there, my foot slipped off and everything completely went blank.
