Adventures of best friends

Throughout the years Carter and I became inseparable. Everyone in the Wolfpack thought we were silly to be this close especially when we were coming of age. That meant we would find our own Mates and lose the connection we have. Carter and I share a Birthday. our Mothers' told us that the night we were born there was Lunar Eclipse. They knew we were going to be special from that point on. Every year since we were 5 we started having co-birthday Parties. This year, our 18th year, would be no different. Our Parents are inviting other packs in hopes for us to find our mates. I couldn't imagine not doing anything without Carter. He's my best friend.
*Later, going for a walk together, distracted*
"Saph," Carter Whispered, "What's wrong, you've been quiet this whole time?"
"Carter, tomorrow we turn 18, we will have our first shift and possibly lose our connection. We could find our mates. I'm scared, I can't lose my best friend", I cried.
"Saph, you know you mean the world to me, nothing will change that. Not even my mate. you'll still be my best friend!" Carter Exclaimed.
"I know, I know. Sorry for worrying. We must get back to the pack house, our birthday is tomorrow and we will be having a first shift soon." I said.
