Episode 3- the Alphas hunt

689 Words
The village of Blackwood slept uneasily under a silver moon, unaware that the hunt had already begun. Evelyn couldn’t shake the feeling that something was watching, following her every move. She and Leo had barely survived the forest the night before, and now, a new dread gnawed at her—a sense that the alpha wasn’t just after them… it was coming for the entire village. “Leo,” she whispered, pacing the ruined clearing. “We can’t just hide here forever. If the alpha wants me, it won’t stop at the forest.” Leo’s hands were trembling, his golden eyes shifting between fear and feral instinct. “I know… but every time I try to confront it, I almost lose control. The transformation… it’s stronger than ever. I can’t risk hurting anyone. Not yet.” Evelyn’s heart pounded. “Then teach me how to fight it, Leo. Teach me the curse. Whatever it takes.” Before he could answer, a blood-curdling howl ripped through the night. The ground trembled violently, and the shadows beyond the ruins moved unnaturally fast. Evelyn’s stomach dropped. The alpha was here. From the treeline emerged the massive wolf, far larger than any creature Evelyn had ever seen. Its fur shimmered like liquid silver under the moonlight, and its eyes—piercing gold—locked onto her. Leo growled, claws extending as his body began to convulse. “Evelyn! Run!” But she couldn’t move. Her feet felt rooted to the ground as the alpha advanced, each step deliberate, predatory. Then, in an instant, Leo lunged forward, catching her hand and dragging her behind a fallen stone pillar. “Stay close!” he hissed, shaking violently as his form began to shift. Muscles bulged, bones cracked, and fur tore through his clothes. His human voice screamed in pain, merging with the guttural growl of the beast. The alpha circled them, sniffing the air, its low growls vibrating through the ruins. Evelyn could feel its intelligence—it wasn’t just a mindless predator. It was calculating, aware, and terrifyingly patient. “You’re… Leo… stronger than me?” she asked, her voice trembling. He roared in response, claws slashing through the air. “I have to be! If I can’t control it… it will kill everyone I care about. Including you!” The alpha leapt, faster than any wolf should be able to move. Leo intercepted it mid-air, teeth clashing, claws ripping. Evelyn shielded her eyes as the beasts battled, silver fur flashing like lightning. But then, something unexpected happened: the alpha spoke—its voice deep, echoing, and almost human. “You carry the blood of the pact,” it rumbled. “The curse must be fulfilled. She is mine.” Evelyn’s blood ran cold. “The curse… me?” Leo’s golden eyes met hers, filled with desperation. “It’s true… your family… the Harts… we’re all tied to this. If the alpha claims you, everything ends. The pack… the village… it all dies.” In that instant, Evelyn felt something awakening within her—a pulse, a warmth, a strange connection to the alpha. It wasn’t fear. It was recognition. Her blood, her lineage, it was calling to the creature, and she realized with horror that she couldn’t run. With a sudden, feral howl, Leo tackled the alpha back. The two monsters crashed against the stone ruins, claws slashing, teeth snapping. Evelyn’s hands shook as she gripped a dagger from her belt—her father’s old surgical knife—and stepped forward. The alpha’s eyes met hers, golden and burning with unholy fire. “The bloodline awakens,” it whispered. “And with her… comes the reckoning.” Evelyn froze. She didn’t know whether to fight, run, or surrender. But one thing was clear: the hunt had escalated, and she was no longer just a witness—she was the target. The moon climbed higher, and the ruins echoed with snarls, growls, and the deafening sound of claws tearing through stone and earth. The alpha, the cursed, and the bloodline had collided—and only one truth remained: Blackwood would never be safe again.
