Episode 4-secrets in the blood

667 Words
The sun was barely a sliver over the horizon when Evelyn awoke in the ruins, her body aching and trembling. Leo lay nearby, his form human again, drenched in sweat and blood. The forest was eerily quiet, as if it were holding its breath. “Leo… we survived?” Evelyn whispered, voice hoarse. He shook his head. “For now. But it won’t stop. The alpha knows your bloodline is awakening. It’s only a matter of time before it comes for you again.” Evelyn’s mind raced. Why her? Why now? She needed answers. “Tell me everything,” she demanded. “The curse, the pact… my family. I need to understand before it kills us.” Leo hesitated, swallowing hard. “Your family… your ancestors weren’t ordinary Harts. They were guardians… protectors of an ancient seal. The seal held the first alpha, the one that rules the pack. But generations ago, someone betrayed it—your great-grandfather, I think. That betrayal split the curse across the bloodline.” Evelyn’s stomach churned. “A seal? Betrayal? Leo… this sounds insane!” “It’s real,” he said, eyes burning golden. “And now the curse is waking in you. The alpha… it senses it. And if it claims you, the pack will awaken fully, and the village—everyone—will die.” Before Evelyn could respond, a rustling in the forest froze them both. Golden eyes glimmered between the trees, but this time, it wasn’t the alpha alone. A smaller wolf, sleek and silver, stepped forward. But as it emerged into the light, Evelyn gasped—it was human, shaped like a boy she vaguely recognized from the village. “Ethan?” she whispered. The boy—or whatever he had become—growled low in his throat, his form shifting violently. “You shouldn’t be here, Evelyn Hart. The bloodline… it belongs to the alpha now.” Evelyn stepped back. Her blood roared in her veins. She could feel the curse stirring, twisting inside her like fire. For the first time, she understood—the stories, the whispers, the fear—it was all about her bloodline awakening. Leo growled, claws extending as his body began convulsing again. “Ethan! No! You don’t have to do this!” But the boy lunged. Evelyn’s heart raced. The forest erupted in chaos. Wolves howled, claws scraped, and the ground shook with each violent transformation. Evelyn raised the dagger, trembling, but something inside her shifted. The pulse in her veins grew stronger, louder, calling out to the alpha, the pack… and the curse. Suddenly, the alpha appeared, larger, more terrifying than ever. Its eyes locked onto Evelyn, golden fire blazing. “The blood awakens,” it rumbled, voice like thunder. “Claim it… or be destroyed.” Leo roared, leaping in front of her. “Not if I can stop it!” In that moment, Evelyn felt something break within her. The fear melted, replaced by a strange power, a connection to the curse coursing through her veins. Her eyes glowed faintly gold, and a low hum filled the air. The wolves froze, sensing the change. Evelyn lifted her hand. A shockwave of energy rippled outward, pushing the wolves back. Even the alpha hesitated, eyes narrowing. “I… I don’t know what this is,” she whispered, voice trembling yet strong. “But it’s mine… and I will fight!” The alpha growled, teeth bared, before vanishing into the shadows, leaving only the echoes of its threat: “This is only the beginning… the hunt is far from over.” Evelyn sank to her knees, trembling. Leo knelt beside her, breathing heavily. “Evelyn… you’re… something more. The curse… it chose you for a reason.” She looked at her hands, still glowing faintly gold. Her blood, her lineage, her destiny—it was all awakening. And somewhere deep inside, she knew the fight for Blackwood, for her life, and for the entire village, had only just begun.
