I had been like this for hours.
The pain was gone now, numbed by whatever they had given me. Anastasia, I think. My body felt light, disconnected from reality, like I was floating.
Slowly, I opened my eyes.
The first thing I saw was the nurse’s face hovering above me. There was something about her… something familiar.
For a moment, I thought—Mum?
“No, she doesn’t look anything like her,” Ash muttered in the back of my mind. “It’s the Anastasia messing with you.”
Maybe she was right. My head was too foggy to tell.
