Epilogue
ALEXIS WOKE UP AND immediately knew that something was wrong. There was a warm presence to her side, huge and hulking and encompassing her entire body. She knew that the body was Anton, and that wasn’t what was wrong. Anton behind her, keeping her body close, would never be wrong. What was wrong was the lack of bodies around her, more specifically, the lack of four tiny bodies that should have been curled up next to her for the next few hours. At least until sunrise they should have been sound asleep, waiting for the birds to wake them up and let them know that it was time for them to play and train the day away.
