“MOTHER, WHAT IF...” Alexis trailed off, and then glanced around them. No wolves were in sight, but that didn’t mean that someone wasn’t close enough to overhear them. She dropped her voice lower, staring down at her toes. “What if it doesn’t have to be temporary?” she whispered. Sabrina’s eyes went wide as she stared down at her daughter. She had never heard such words before, and she never would have imagined them from someone like Alexis. “What do you mean?” she asked, although she had a growing suspicion. “He wants to meet me,” Alexis said. “At the next available time, as soon as we can.
