ALEXIS, WITH THE CLOUDS still covering the moon in a thick blanket, had no real way to know what time it was. At some point, Sabrina had released her from the hug and had retreated into the den, leaving Alexis alone and at the mercy of her own thoughts. She was still consumed with fear from her nightmare, and it was enough to project images into the shadows that weren’t really there. With every rustle of a branch or of leaves, Alexis was afraid that it was the monster wolf from her nightmare and that she was going to be killed in a matter of seconds.
