Ellie moved through the next few days like she was in a fog. She got up, went to work and came home but it wasn’t home because Adrian wasn’t here. Every night she told herself she’d look for an apartment but instead she curled on the couch, hugging his pillow. She had to pull herself together and she’d start this weekend. Tomorrow was Saturday. She’d go to the gym or for a long walk, anything to get herself moving, and tonight she’d cook.
She grabbed the mail on the way up the stairs to the apartment. She’d change and then go grocery shopping. She could swing by Mitch’s place and give Adrian his mail except he didn’t want to see her anymore. It was like someone had punched her in the stomach. Adrian was the best guy in the world, and she’d lost him. No, she’d chased him away.
