A Day in Blue Valley

My eyes flew open, my heart beats rapidly as I try to catch my breath. I slowly sat up in bed, my body was drenched with my sweat and so was the bed underneath me. I tried to recollect my thoughts as I recover from that awful nightmare, I could barely remember what was happening in it but I just know that I was so terrified. I rose from the bed, I dragged my feet to the closet to get clean sheets so I could remover the wet ones, I ramage through the darkness too sleepy to turn the light on. After a few minutes of searching the closet then the drawer I finally found a pair, I could tell they were either white or light-colored sheets because they were the only thing I could see in the darkness. As I walked back to the bed and start picking the pillows up one by one and throwing them on the floor I heard a noise coming from downstairs, my head instantly snapped towards the door as if it had a life of its own. I stood still, closed my eyes, and count to ten daring the sound to come again. Just then I heard another sound, this one was a lot slower than the first, it sounded like the sound was moving. I walked slowly towards the door praying there weren't any burglars, I doubt I would be able to fight them off on my own. I finally reached my bedroom door it felt like I was trying to get there for days, I had the knob in my hand too scared to turn it, just then I a wooden sword my dad bought for me when we went to the galaxy wars convention last summer. I grabbed the sword hoping it can protect me from what lies down there. I turned the knob slowly trying not to make a sound which failed when the door gave a loud creak as I pulled it open, I cover my mouth and hugged the door trying to keep it steady. The noise had died out now, I was scared but curiosity got the best of me. I released the door leaving it open in case I need to hide later on. I tiptoed down the stairs holding on to the rails as I peek over them. The street light illuminate the living room creating shadows that danced with every move of the wind. I finally reached the end of the stairs and I could hear the sound much clearer now. It sounded like heavy metal is being dragged across the solid ground and it sounded like it was coming from the basement. I checked to see if the coast was clear and darted towards the basement door. I slowly opened the door and peered in, the entire room was pitch black, the street fight went as far as the two first steps of the basement. I was about to turn the lights on when I felt something push me from behind and I went flying down the stairs, I screamed at the top of my lungs hoping someone would come and rescue me before I was swallowed by the never-ending darkness. I suddenly heard loud beeping sounds, was I in a hospital? I throw my hand out in the air and I hit something hard, and the beeping went further away from me I heard a cracking sound as something hit the ground. As if on cue my eyes flew open, I blot out of bed heading towards the scene. "Oh no, not again," I cursed to myself. "Why were you in the way?" I started getting angry at the alarm clock that happened to be the item that fell. Mom's gonna flip if she knew I broke yet another alarm clock, I've had three within the last six months and they all ended up dying of the same crime, I'm pretty sure I will be going to jail by the end of the year, I'm gonna have to start planning my escape, I will have to at that to my to-do-list for later or I will be late for my first day at school. I checked the time on the alarm clock which is still functioning properly, hurrah! I placed the clock back on the nightstand and headed for the bathroom. I took a quick shower, in record time I must say, after which I went to check my face in the mirror. I brushed my hair then ran my fingers throw it to give it a messy yet neat look. As I re-entered my room I went to check the time on my phone it's 7:05 am, I throw the phone back on my bed, and took the black pants I found in one of my bags along with a dark blue shirt and my black leather jacket, I'm gonna have to unpack these, whenever that is. I took up my phone and slid it in my pocket, then I took up my bag and throw some books and a few pens in that I might need for school, I doubt they'll have any classes seeing that it's the first day. "Guys breakfast!" I heard my mom shout from downstairs. I opened my door to head out and right as I opened the door it collided with something. "Ouch!!!What the...." I closed the door to see that Kailee was laying on the ground holding her forehead. I looked at her for a while then burst out laughing. "Kails, what were you doing behind my door?" I asked recovering from my fit of laughter. "Just like you, heading downstairs." She said while getting up, I raise an eyebrow at her daring her to tell the truth. "I was planning on scaring you as you opened the door but my judgment went wrong and my plan backfired." She said heading downstairs. "Clearly," I stated, I jumped beside her and ruffled her hair, and ran off to the kitchen. I could hear her shouting as I entered the kitchen. Inside Aris was sitting around the table eating scrambled eggs with buttered toast and a glass of orange juice. "Good morning," I said as I went and placed a kiss on my mother's cheek and took a seat beside Aris. A plate was already made and waiting in front of me. "Thanks, mom," I said with a smile on my face. "Hey kid," I said to Aris as I plop a piece of toast in my mouth. "Hey" he replied with a smile on his face, mom then came around to sit beside him. "Where's your sister?" She asked. I pointed to the door as it opened to reveal with a satisfied look on her face. "Where were you? I thought I heard you came in behind your brother?" Mom asked as she gave her a plate filled with eggs and toast. "I went to redo my hair because someone decided to mess with an hour worth of work." She answered all the while glaring at me. Kylie looks a lot like me, with dark hair, slightly plumped lips, and slender eyes. One would say she's a beautiful young woman if she wasn't so cracked in the head. "Hey, it's time to go." She told me as I was putting away my now empty plate. I gave her a small nod and went to put my shoes on before heading out. "Oh, the cars came in this morning, the keys are on the table." I heard mom say as Kaylee came out throwing the car keys at me almost hitting me in the face, it's a good thing I have great reflexes. "Hey watch it," I said as I open the driver's side of the car. I entered my black Toyota civics which was gifted to me by my father, Kailee got the same one only her's is a dark blue. But we decided on going together seeing that it's our first day and we have no idea where the school is and we most definitely don't want to get lost even though it's a small town. I started the car as she put the school's location in the GPS. About twenty minutes later we pulled up in front of a huge building made of old bricks that seems like it hasn't been painted in over centuries ago, with vines running up the walls almost covering the entire building. I drove over to the parking lot where I found a spot and parked the car. "This place looks like a horror movie come to life," Kailee started as she came to the front of the car to take a photo of the school on her phone, she's probably gonna post it with those same captions on her i********: page. The schoolyard was lined with lawn grass on both sides of a paved pathway that leads up to the front door, as you got closer to the entrance you could see the name of the school "Blue Valley High" pained in a washed-out blue above the door. When we entered the building it was like coming out of mid 40s movie and stepping into the future, inside was more modern than on the outside. The walls were lined with blue lockers with students bustling in and out of them grabbing books and whatever they'll need for class, the wall was painted in white and it was surprisingly clean, seeing that it's a high school. I saw a door labeled "Administration Office", I pushed the door open and held it for a while so Kailee could follow behind. Even inside the offices were clean, freshly potted plants adorn the walls and a few vines draped down the wall over the bookshelves that made it look as though you were in a treehouse. Kailee walked up to the front desk where a lady with brown hair and glasses was standing typing away in the computer before her, without even noticing that we came in. "Good morning," Kailee said with a smile on her face, her phone long gone and to think this is the place she would be videoing. The lady looked up at as slightly and fixed her glasses on her face properly. She plastered a smile on her face and directed her attention to us. "Good morning my name is Miss Green, how may I help you?" She asked. "Hi, my brother and I recently transferred here and we were told to come here on our first day of school to receive our schedules," Kailee stated. "Ok sure darling. may I have your names please?" She asked. "Yes, I'm Kailee West and this is Kai West." I gave her a little wave as she looked at me. The lady, Miss Green she said her name was, turned to her computer screen and typed something and after a while of searching she finally found what she was looking for and soon we heard the sound of a printer turning on. She gathered the papers that were printed, together and gave them to us. As she was about to say something else the door opened and two students came in. One of them was a guy with curly brown hair and brown eyes, he was wearing a football jersey so I assumed he played for the school's team. The other was a girl she had blond hair with colored tips, and her eyes had a dark line around them assume that's makeup, I don't fancy girls that wear makeup or any that that hides their true beauty, her lips were also covered in black it's either lipstick or glass, I saw Kailee with a few but I just don't know or care about the differences, she wore dark clothing and had a lot of piercings around her eyes, nose, and lips. "Ahh yes, you guys were supposed to be here fifteen minutes ago?" Miss green stated pushing her glasses further up her nose. She shook her head and pointed to us. "This is Kai and Kailee West, their new students here, and seeing that you two are both apart to the school welcoming committee you're assigned to show them around. Now get on to it." She said as she ushered us out. "Hi, I'm Tessa." The girl said to us with a smile on her face. "I'm Kailee," Kailee said trying to muster up a smile but failed miserably. I rolled my eyes at her and shook my head she just smiled. "I'm Brad." The guy said looking around the still busy hallway. "Kai" I stated with a stern look on my face. "Oookay, so seeing that neither of us wanna be here let's just get this done and settled with." The girl with the piercings said, ahh what's her name again, Tiffany tsk Tori, I'm no good with remembering names. "Yea I'll take Kailee here and show her around." This guy said with a smirk on his face. There's no way I'm leaving him alone with my sister, he'd probably take her to an abandoned part of the school all the while showing her his biceps, I can feel the lust radiating from him. "Yea not gonna happen," I said angrily, looking him dead in the eyes, his smirk fell and he looked a bit scared, good now he knows his place. "Ok then I'll show her around, and you guys do whatever you please," Tori said, Kailee went quietly behind her. I looked down at the paper in my hand and as if on cue I found the class schedule, why did they give us so many papers, aren't we gonna learn all about the school history in history class. "Hey wait for up.," I could hear someone call from behind me but being the awesome person I am I just continued walking up the flight of stairs I came in contact with. I scanned through the schedule to find I have calculus with Mr. Hales, and how am I supposed to find this class, it wouldn't hurt for them to add a map to this mountain of documents. As if on cue the guy walking beside me asked. "What class do you have first?" "Ahh 10a calculus," I answered. "With Mr. Hales?" He questioned, I gave him a small nod as he motioned for me to follow him as he continue. "We have the same class." We could hear the chattering of students from outside the classroom, as we entered I could see the teacher lazily sitting behind his desk waiting for all the students to get inside before the final bell. "Ahh Mr. Levi, it's so nice if you to join us." The teacher said casually at I assume Brad seeing that we're the only ones that are standing. Everyone stopped talking and turned their attention to the door where we're standing. "Yea I know," He said as he headed for a desk high fiving a guy with light brown hair as he sit. "And you must be Kai West?" He questioned looking at his clipboard. I nodded. "I'm Mr. Hales your calculus teacher. Class this is Kai West please let him feel welcome, please take a seat wherever you please," he announced and turned to write on the board. I went to the seat at the back of the class, trying to ignore all the abrupt whispers and suspicious stares. I threw my bag on the desk and sat down wishing I could pull my hoodie over my head. I caught a few girls shamelessly checking me out and licking their lips. I responded by biting my lower lips and they giggled. I smirked, girls can be so easy. I diverted my attention to Mr. Hales as he began his class on Pythagoras theorem. I actually like calculus, as odd as it sounds it helps me relax and forget about my personal life. whenever I start a problem it's like it overshadows all the problems in my life and I am able to focus on just it. I was about to point out to Mr. Hades that he had just written the incorrect figure when a strange sensation ran through my body. I glanced out the window and there by the towering willow tree near the forest stood a strange silhouette figure of a person that seems to be growing and fading in and out of existence. I vigorously shook my head, this is evidence that my emotions and restless nights are finally taking a toll on my mental health. sighing, I need to go for a run or get laid. I tried my best to focus on the lesson being taught but by the end of the class, I had only written the Pythagoras Theorem at the top of my page and a sketch of the tree with the mysterious shadow below it.
