Chapter 5

1521 Words
Gavin To her credit, Tempest wasn’t crying. You could tell by her voice that she had been and loudly. I have never seen this girl cry. I had wondered sometimes if what she had been through before she came to the pack had given her a fear of emotional intimacy. To really cry in front of someone was baring your soul and Tempest has never told us about any of it nor has I ever heard her cry. Some nights she had nightmares and would yell out but she never cried. “Tell me what happened.” I purr at her hoping to calm her in some way. She snuggled in closer to me and goddess it just feels right. “There’s men coming to take me away in a few days.” She whispers it so softly, I only heard because of my heightened senses. “Dad or Alpha James sold me to these men. My dad says they already own me.” I can feel my wolf trying to rip through my to defend her. No one’s taking her any f*****g where. Deep angry penetrating growls vibrate the room and I realize Aaron and I are almost in sync with our rage. Aaron stands up and drags a shaking hand through his hair. “I’ll find out!” He growls and stomps over to our floating bar. He grabs a bottle of the strongest bourbon we have and walks back with a deep frown on his face. Tired lines look odd on a face that was barely twenty five but I saw those same lines in my face every time Cluster f****d us. Now I wonder… Aaron questioned through our link and I knew exactly where this was headed. Aaron was a very bull by the horns kind of alpha which I respected. His father was all deceitful smoke and mirrors and I knew just like Aaron knew that if Alpha James could sell a girl from our pack to cover his ass he would in a heartbeat. Aaron passed me and Tempest a glass before he sat back down. “Drink that, Tempt and try and focus your mind. How did you hear this information?” He poured her another shot before he sat back. “Drink Princess and know you are safely with your brothers.” I whisper in her ear and she burrows closer. My baby swallows a few times as if clearing her throat. “I heard Mom and dad arguing about selling me. He said your dad has already spent the money, Aaron. What money?” She whispers but her voice does sound a little stronger. “Mom gave me a bag that has a new phone and a lot of money in it. She told me to run. She said she’s known for years my father and yours sold me. Why would they?” Aaron sighs and pulls her to him. He almost rocks her as he encourages her to drink a bit more. “Gavin and I are going to find some answers and then we are going to plan how to get you out of here safely.” Aaron says softly but I hear the thinly veiled threat in his tone. I’ll help him kill that asshole if he’s sold the sun from under us. That’s what she is for Aaron and I, she’s our sun. I hate that asshat Moon gave her the name first, but damn did the name suit her. Tempest was warm and inviting. When she laughed it felt like you were floating on her giggles and coasting on her chuckles. Aaron and I both orbited her but I’m sure it was for two very different reasons. I was in love with her and she was his best friend and little sister. After Tempest started to relax in my arms, I picked her up and headed for my bed. Aaron nodded at me as he pulled his shirt back on and waited for me. She looked so sweet just laying there in my arms. I really didn’t want to lay her down but I had to. Aaron’s asshole father had to be questioned and Aaron needed me watching his back. Neither of us would put it past Alpha Cluster to try and kill or maim Aaron to stay in power. The man continued to try and spend pack funds on his whores, and Aaron’s death would fatten Clusters pockets nicely. Gently I eased her down in the bed. She mumbled something sweetly up at me as I bent over her. I always wondered exactly what she looked like. She always wore contacts and kept herself covered but I knew she was beautiful. I could tell by the way she moved she had more grace than any queen. The goddess wouldn’t make a woman who moves like flowing water hard on the eyes would she? It would be a waste of her amazing work. I was so f*****g tempted to kiss her. Her name should have been tempting, not Tempest. I pulled away and whispered softly in her ear. “I’m locking the door when we leave. We will be back and I’ll wake you up then. Don’t leave this room, Tempt. Not for a damn thing.” She opens one eye that I swear to the goddess I see purple fire in but she quickly shuts it tight again. I try to control my breathing at seeing such a beautiful sight. I always knew there was something different about her. I think Aaron knows it too. Seconds begin to tick into minutes as I stay bent over her hoping to see those eyes again. My neck begins to burn a bit with the position, but I’d stay like this forever if I could. I would tell Aaron later what I saw so he understands how different she truly is. Whining softly, I ease up from the bed and head for the living room. We can’t put this off much longer because Aaron and I need time to plan what to do with Tempest after we get her out of here. Aaron’s gut feeling was right and that prick alpha was up to something, only this time it involved what was ours. Aaron stands up the second he sees me and heads toward the door. I follow wordlessly, my stomach feeling sour and heavy with each carpeted step we took toward Cluster’s office. Aaron and I both knew the man was capable of some foul s**t through the years but selling people was an all time low even for Cluster. Aaron almost vibrated in fury as we walked shoulder to shoulder down the stairs and hallways of the expansive pack house. If the Luna, Aaron’s mother, were still alive none of this would be happening right now. That woman kept the i***t alpha in check and I missed her presence daily. She was more of a mother to me than my actual mother. We saw Beta Harold, Tempest's father, coming out of Alpha James’s office. Aaron stopped me with a look and we both stood glaring at the man who should have been helping us protect his daughter. When he looked up and saw us both dominating the hallway, he quickly lowered his eyes in what looked like guilt and tried moving past us. Aaron growled at him as I caught the overwhelming scent of wolfsbane and whiskey rolling off the beta. I grab the drunken asshole by his throat with a chest rumbling growl. I hated this stupid f*****g man before us right now with everything in me. The only thing preventing me from killing him was my love for his daughter. Harold just stares at me with heavy eyelids and a face full of despair. I swear I think the man wants me to kill him in his misery. Growling Aaron hits his father’s beta with a bone crunching force right in his f*****g face. We all hear Harold’s jaw crack and splinter as his eyes rolled to the top of his head and his body sank like a weight to the floor with a thud. “Fucker!” Aaron growls at the Beta damn near snapping his teeth in the man’s face. I pulled Aaron away from the man and closer to the alpha’s door. Tempest wouldn’t thank us for killing her father no matter what he had done. She loved her parents no matter how many issues they had. Aaron glares at his father’s office door. Alpha aura crashes out of him in a crippling display of cold power meant for his father. James whined loudly from behind the door as Aaron turned the knob and rolled in like a hurricane. The younger alpha’s heartbeat and breathing were the outer destructive bands of the storm while Aaron’s eyes remained cold, flat and calm just like the eye. James actually jumped to his feet to run but Aaron’s aura pinned the man right back in his seat. He whimpered and struggled against his son’s power and Aaron and I filled the office with our roars.
