***Seraphina***
"Seriously, Seraphina, what were you thinking?! You know you can't be in wolf form, and you went and did it anyway?!"
Phil's screaming at me at this point as I take a seat at Destiny's vanity, ignoring him. There's already so much piling up that I'm getting tired. That's when Destiny snaps back at him.
"Phil, Piss off will you, clearly she just wanted some air?! What would you do if you had to go to the where your familys murderer used to reside?!"
Anger is coming off both of them in waves.
"That doesn't give her the freedom to go against dad's rules, Destiny! What do you two not understand about that?!"
I ignore them and tune into my own thoughts. I don't need to be a part of this. I need to figure out how Amelia was able to scent something out before I could... I try asking her, but all she says to me is that we need to find our mate, and things will go the way they were always supposed to.
How cryptic... an frustrating.. I just want to know what's going on.. Phil is still yelling at Destiny even though she's gone to ignoring him and scrolling on her phone.
"Phil, I'm sorry, okay? I just woke up, and I couldn't fall back asleep, especially after seeing who I have to be around tomorrow. I just wanted to go lay by the pond and let Amelia out. We don't get to enjoy running around like you do. I'm sorry, I won't do it again."
"Seraphina if something is bothering you. You can always come and talk to me. You don't have to go do something that puts you in danger.. I know it's not fair, but Dad gave you these rules to keep you safe."
Phil says to me that, and I watch as guilt falls across his face at my statement.
I just nod back to him. He goes to start saying something else but gets cut off as his father mindlinks us to unlock Destiny's door. I get up to reach the door, but Phil beats me there, so I sit back down.
"Well, we were able to barely pick up the scent you smelt, but it was there. From now on, Seraphine, you'll be with someone at all times."
"When am I ever actually alone. I take college online because I can't go in person because of whatever you guys think I am. What makes the difference. Thank you, Uncle Max, for ensuring I lose any space I actually had. I'm going back to bed. "
I get up and start walking to the door when Phil grabs my arm. I whirl around and face him. Amelia is pushing forward growling, and I can see it throws him off because he lets go and steps back.
I'm rushing to my room and locking the door. I can feel the panic attack coming, and I'm doing everything to keep it at bay
"Let me take over...."
"I've got this. I just need to breathe Amelia. I'll be fine."
I can feel her pushing for control, trying to comfort me.
"Please just trust me. I promise no nightmares, and we'll get some sleep till tomorrow when you need to get ready. okay?"
Still shaking and wanting the space, knowing she'll protect me, I let Amelia take over and shift. She curls up into herself and purrs, and I fall asleep in the back of our mind....
I wake up to my door opening. It's probably Destiny she has the spar key to my room. I'm still in Wolf Form, and I see that it is Phil walking into my room. Amelia, let's out a growl, warning him to keep back.
"Woah, I know last night was bad, but Destiny is worried about you. She came to check on you, and she said you've been in your wolf form since this morning. You even growled at her... It's almost 4 Sera...Come eat something please before getting ready with Destiny."
Mindlinking, I tell him to get out! Anger pouring through my tone. He looks back at me, stunned before walking out of the room.
Shifting back and heading to my bathroom. My head hurts, but I brush it off, getting into the shower, not even waiting for it to heat up.
"Why'd you growl at Destiny?"
"I promised to keep you safe, and I meant it. Even if it's from our best friend. She is also part of the reason you had a panic attack last night. You needed more sleep."
I just shake my head. I take my shower and do my routine, getting ready for this Goddess forsaken ball. I just sit in the scolding water for a while afterward before getting out and toweling off. I put my robe on and start blow drying my hair when I hear a soft knock on my bathroom door. It's Destiny, and she's holding some food and a coffee. Which I'm not gonna lie sounds great, especially cause my stomach grumbles in excitement just by the sight. Turning my blow dryer off, I walk up and hug her.
"I'm sorry for growling at you.." I don't want to tell her everything else because I don't want her to think it's her fault.
"Don't be. I know you just wanted space, especially with this last week, and your parents' anniversary coming up."
I squeeze her harder. I love her, and she really is the best. Taking the food from her, I change the topic and give her a mischievous grin.
"Ready to get smoking hot and have a blast at the Royal Palace for the first time in years?!"
She just looks at me with a rebellious smirk back and comes in. We spend the next hour or two getting ready. She did her hair in a beautiful updo that excentuates her eyes and cheek bones. Her makeup is looking soft but defined with a beautiful cut crease. I curled my hair and gave it a soft blowout look. Destiny gave me smokey eyes and added some red color underneath to make them pop.
Shortly after, we got into our dresses and took pictures in my full-length mirror.
"Oh!! One last thing. We weren't able to get them the other day, but I ordered us some yesterday while you were in the shower. This one is yours, and this one is mine."
She walks behind me and places it over my face. It's a gorgeous mask it's made out of maroon colored rhinestones, and they cascade down my face from under my eyes, and it has jewels that run up the bridge of my nose. It clips into my hair beautifully and matches beautifully with my dress since the casing for the jewels is black. Destiny's mask is much simpler and covers her face like a normal masquerade mask it's a soft rose gold with beautiful lace and jewels.
"Why is my face so much more covered, hmmm?
I ask, teasing her and throwing her a wink.
"I thought you might like people not having much of your face to see, and you'd be more comfortable."
I've always appreciated that she always thinks of the things I forget. Maybe tonight won't be so bad.
"It's perfect, thank you! Now let's go it's already seven, and your dad's gonna start thinking I tried escaping if you don't make it downstairs."
We both burst out laughing. Heading out of my room and out of the pack house meeting everyone outside.
