Chapter 8: Come And Go

The left wall switched to show Monster as it crumbled buildings it landed on with its wing hands and climbed towards me. The Monster was fast and cut like a hot knife through butter. As it reached me, it stopped to stare in for a brief moment before continuing its destruction. I saw that its head was draconic and covered in purple Sludge. "Master Caliran, are you alright?" I head Chuben ask. "Yeah, I think I'm good." I could see myself tilting, so I shuffled away and looking back, I saw the ground fall away. "Why did it look at me like that? It should just be here for our Animals." "My guess is that it wants to eat you and let your elemental energy destroy its body so that it can overcome that damage and evolve." I chuckled slightly, "sure." "What is that Monster anyway?" I crawled away and saw Meems and Monster Hunters fighting the titanic Monster in the distance. I saw Chuben stay close, his head twisting and ears up. "Sky-slicer and thanks to the mental boosting Sludge, that purple stuff that covers it. Must've realised it could just stay high and punch through our roof. An also sludged Wyvern-like Monster flew in through the large window, diving to get in. "And it has Scavagers; why wouldn't it. This is bad," I said as it sniffed the air and walked further in, its claws gripping the ground. "Think I can take it? I think so." "Wait for those mechanical entities to fulfil their role." "At last!" Chuben cried; he flew in front of the Scavager, "this is the moment I've been waiting for." With that, he used his races' ability to grow to many times his size. The first time I saw it, scales formed over his body, and his horns grew, the wing-hands turning to claws. "I'll hold them off," his voice becoming deeper. He struck its head with a wing claw. The Scavenger reeled in pain and spun its tail, cutting through the walls with Chuben ducking and trying to grab the tail. The ceiling began to fall, chunks of hard brown and grey synsis broke apart and fell down the building's scar. I saw some fall on me. "Master!" Chuben roared, staring at my eyes; his head snapped back to the Scavager, "out with you," he said, barreling into his opponent and forcing it outside. a Meems on booster wings hovered outside. I held my breath until they passed. Only for the fear to return when the Sky-slicer suddenly stuck its goddam head into the wound, its horn cutting through the ceiling. Its black and red eyes snapped on me, and the Monster opened its mouth with numerous tongues creeping towards me. Suddenly with the force of a freight train, Chuben dropkicked the Sky-slicer and sent it falling, the home-house shaking as the blow removed it. I saw Chuben curl his tail around the Creature's neck and hurl its back to the ground, which I saw was coated in a guard barrier. Upon hitting the ground, the Sky-slicer was knocked upwards and struck another shield which sent it into the first, each impact stronger and hitting its whole body. The giant Monster remained trapped until it wasn't as it steadied itself and flew after Chuben, curved-end blade prepared. The Titan came faster than I expected a being of that size to move. Chuben easily dodged the strike and countered by slashing its body, backing off when the backswing came and further when its jaws slammed shut. The Sky-slicer roared in frustration, and from its chest, I saw an orange light grow and travel towards its mouth. I also saw that Chuben noticed the telegraph flying just a bit higher and even further away. The Monster chased, its long body waving. I saw the might light was even brighter now and that the Monster's mouth remained closed, but I saw it strained to hold the energy back. Suddenly the maw opened, with a giant laser of bright orange and red roared through the air. The Monster swayed its body, the beam following and much like first fire, chuben stayed far away. Chuben began to circle the Sky-slicer and I saw that the beam didn't simply go in a straight line. Nope. It, it curved around and ended up just above the Sky-slicer who was still firing the giant laser, mind you. Shield Meems intercepted the attack to well keep the attack from striking the wall, duh. Anyway, stay focused Cal damnit, I thought, looking back as the might above collected into a giant swirling ball. From the ball, tendrils and blades left all around, the first stretching out and crushing all they touched, with the second well, cutting. Worried, I looked at Chuben, only to struggle to see him as a tornado formed where he was. Ooooh, the tornado was Chuben, or Chuben was creating the tornado. Wait, what the heck, he's this powerful? Looing as hard as I could, I saw a flickering brown line in the whirlwind. I blinked, and the two beings had entered a violent clash, Chuben pressing his fist against the Sky-slicer's guard coated wings. The clash sent sparks flying until Chuben struck a second time, the attack just enough to send the M away. And out of my site as building blocked my site. I stayed under the rubble, not moving a muscle, "damnit, when the fighting stops, they'll clear the wreckage and find me. They'll take me away from everything and my dad. What if that Monster wins, and it comes for me? It'll kill me," I said, "but I don't want to die; why can't I move." "Calm yourself, and do not worry," Shard said, "they will not find you." "Ok," I said, calming my mind, "thanks for that, really." "It is only right for me to care for you." I stared through the c***k; I saw them fight the Monster and its small army with all sorts of weaponry, and when I was able to hear the rumbling stop, I knew it was dead. My feeling was assured when Chuben flew in and sniffed the room. I saw Necroians, Geoians and mixes of the two enter the room, "gota respect Enorian and Mechoian architecture. Who knew buildings built to withstand catastrophes could hold up against a village level Monster," I heard one of them say whilst lifting the rubble. "Yeah, it's really something," another one said. I couldn't see their face, but I could tell they were Necroian. "O hi, little guy," one of them said; I saw them reaching down to pet Chuben, "were you scared? Well, they're gone now." "Shame, I wanted to kill more, but the important thing's that... My masters home didn't get destroyed too much." Good one there, Chuben, I thought. "Woah, so you're a guardian, Fualow; you must've been the one who took down a whole bunch of Scavagers and dealt the final blow, good job. You helped a ton," another said. "I bet you could have taken it if the Lumedi didn't get to it first. Hey, anyone else scarred living with those Consumed?" "Not really," the first answered. "I require no thanks, though I wouldn't mind a belly rub," he said, rolling over, "if you really want to thank me, then you can do that." "Ok, ok," one of them said, bending down to pet him. "Don't even think we need those pseudo-Dracos," the first said, "with Fualows like this one." "That's because I have served many old age-dying masters. It would be best if you didn't rely on us to protect the whole city." "Yeah, let's just leave you bunch how you are," one said as they lifted the synsis that buried me. No, I thought, I wouldn't let you take everything away from me. I'll kill you bastards. "Stop," Shard said to me. "So how old are you, your not like any I've seen before," I saw them throw the rubble out. "I have served six, Haben, Rysa, Dante, Emila, Lyla and Slaow." "Wow." The girl lifted the rubble and looked at the floor, "uh, guys, some of the shadows look kinda shiny." "really?" A Necroian said I saw them come into view. Leave. "Well, I don't see anything, come on; get back to work, Cheren," they left. "Yeah yeah, sooner we're done, sooner we can go to a sata-house. Now begone," she said, hurling the debris out. The Geoians finished, "I'll save one for you," one said, patting the Necroian's shoulder as she lowered herself down on some platform. I watched the Necroian as he filled in the gaps with a paste that turned solid from what I could see. "Why can't they see me, Shard? Why can't I move." "Let us wait until that Human leaves," he replied. I did as Shard asked, but I felt myself grow restless. When the man finally left, I tried to move. I couldn't. "This is just like that time," I said, my voice shaking; images of what Shadagon did to me flashed. "No, I can't get out. Why is this happening?" "I used the elemental energy you had stored." "You did what?" "It was either that or become captured; I can undo it," Shard said. "No, stop taking control, damnit," I said as I felt my body rise from the ground. I saw my dad staring at me. I didn't even see him come in, "what the hell!" He yelled, stepping back; he covered his mouth as he coughed hard.
