When they got home, Sandra's dad was already back. He was sitting in the parlor, watching News. His attention split between the screen and the sound of the front door opening. Sandra and Emily were surprised when they saw him. "You are back already." Sandra said as she stepped closer to the center of the sitting room. She dropped her handbag on the side table and glanced at the wall clock, checking the time. "Yeah. I thought it would take time, but everything went faster than I thought." He said, turning down the volume of the television. His eyes moved from Sandra to Emily, and he noticed Emily's facial expression. Even though she wasn't crying, her face had not brightened up.
