I backed away from Jessica and locked eyes with Dr. Suarez. "Will you be able to save her?" I asked, trying to keep my voice steady.
My eyes flicked to Jessica, unconscious and bleeding on my bed. A part of me wanted to shut down, to distance myself from the reality of the situation, but I couldn’t afford that luxury. Not now.
