Chapter 29
The following week, Reese held my hand while I lay in a hospital bed. The doctor moved a cold ultrasound probe on my stomach.
The little heart sounded healthy, but there was a faint echo that had me worried the baby had arrhythmia.
"Hmm, interesting." Dr. Brand said, and she moved the wand around vigorously until she found the source of the problem. "Ahh, here we go. Here's one heartbeat, and here's another."
Reese's fingers spasmed while we studied the screen while the doctor took measurements.
"After I'm done, I'll print out a picture of your babies that you can take home with you," she said.
Our eyes collided. Reese's jaw dropped open and his goggle eyes had the look of astonishment.
Reese spoke up, "Can you tell the s*x yet?"
"Are you sure you want to know?"
