Chapter Song – Camouflage - Nneka I felt the sheets move and slide beneath me. My consciousness unraveled into layers of an awakening that was too early for me to greet. ‘What time is it?’ I wondered as I felt for the covers that were being pulled away from my reach. I couldn’t tell what the time was on the clock over the bedside table. It didn’t have those hands that glowed in the dark. It wasn’t even digital. It was one of those old corpulent clocks that had two bells on either side like they were ears. My body ached for five more minutes. But truth be told my spirit wanted more than that. What it craved was deep sleep. A long one. And so with limbs that felt sore, I curled up and willed my consciousness to return to slumber. Damn it. I couldn’t go back to sleep. I knew it. No wonder
