THE DARK SIDE

Blank stood their ground, refusing to be intimidated by the figure's words. "Who are you?" they asked, their voice trembling only slightly. "I am known as the Dark One," the figure said. "I am a being of great power, and I will not allow you to threaten my control." Blank felt a surge of anger and defiance. "I won't let you hurt anyone!" they said. "I'll do whatever it takes to stop you." The Dark One laughed, a cold and mirthless sound. "You are but a child," they said. Blank gritted their teeth and closed their eyes, focusing on the anger and fear that coursed through them. They took a deep breath and opened their eyes, channeling all of their energy into the task at hand. A bolt of lightning shot from Blank's fingertips, hitting the Dark One square in the chest. The figure staggered backwards, a look of surprise on their face. Blank felt a rush of satisfaction, but it was short-lived. The Dark One straightened, their features hardening into a mask of fury. "You dare to attack me?" they snarled. The Dark One raised their staff, and a ball of fire appeared in their palm. They threw the ball towards Blank, who barely had time to raise their arms in defense. The ball exploded upon impact, knocking Blank to the ground. They coughed, feeling the heat of the flames on their skin. The pain was intense, but they forced themselves to stand, refusing to give in to the agony. Blank lifted their arms and a wall of water sprang up, extinguishing the flames. The Dark One seemed taken aback by this, and for a moment, Blank thought they had the upper hand. But the Dark One's expression quickly turned to one of smug satisfaction. "Do you really think that will stop me?" they said. They lifted their staff, and the ground beneath Blank's feet began to shake. Large cracks appeared, growing wider and deeper by the second. Blank tried to maintain their footing, but the earth beneath them was rapidly giving way. They knew that they had to do something, or they would be swallowed up by the earth itself. Blank closed their eyes and focused all of their energy on the air around them. The air swirled and condensed, forming a solid wall of wind. As the wall of wind solidified, it began to push back against the shaking earth. The ground rumbled and groaned, but it could not overcome the force of the wind. Blank poured all of their energy into maintaining the wall, determined to protect themselves and those around them. The Dark One's face was contorted with rage. They were clearly not used to being thwarted, and they were determined to break through Blank's defenses. They raised their staff and a bolt of lightning shot towards the wall of wind. Blank gasped as the lightning struck the wall, but the wall held firm. The lightning rebounded, hitting the Dark One and throwing them back. They landed on the ground with a thud, their staff falling from their hand. Blank took a deep breath, surprised that their plan had worked. They had never imagined that they would be able to stand up to such a powerful being. But their moment of triumph was short-lived. As they watched, the Dark One slowly rose to their feet. Their eyes glowed with fury, and they held out their hand.
