The children rushed forward in an endless sprint. Soren and Ki couldn’t attack or defend—how could they, when they had sworn to protect them? They focused on evasion, dodging the small, frenzied bodies. Mare threw a bead into the middle of the crowd. Ki spotted it, leapt high, and sliced it before it could detonate, shielding the children from whatever trap it held. Mare hurled another bead above him. It exploded midair, blasting Ki backward, straight toward the children he’d just protected. Soren quickly fired a Gravitational Punch, redirecting Ki’s flight path and steering him away.
